Space Wolves vs Ice Angels = 1,600 points
All Around Defense

Space Wolves Army
I don't have his exact army list but he had 1 15 man blood claw unit, 2 grey hunter units, a lot of wolf guard, some of which formed their own unit, then a wolf priest and a rune priest.

Ice Angel Army
Captain Ruusa - jump pack power weapon storm shield
Chaplain - jump pack
Sanguinary Priest - jump pack plasma pistol
Sanguinary Priest - plasma pistol
"Frost" - Dreadnought with plasma cannon, extra armor
"Frank" - Death Company Dreadnought
Vindicator with extra armor
Devastators - 10 men 2 lascannons 2 plasma cannons
Assault Squad - 10 men powerfist meltagun
Death Company - 4 men jump packs 2 powerfists
Tactical Squad - 6 men

by the way, this was actually a 1,500 point game but my space wolf buddy added up wrong, thats why I have a lame 6 man tactical squad. It was thrown in last minute.

ANY WAYS!

Deployment

Space Wolves 1 – Moved forward with four units, fired and killed one devastator. An awful start indeed.

Ice Angels 1 – Army spread out and moved forward, missed with lascannons and demolisher, killed five hunters with plasma cannons. Assaulted with Frank, death company, Frost, and tactical squad. Frank essploded (kaboom) from a powerfist. Frost murdered terminators as they fled. Death company and tactical squad killed 15 blood claws.

Space Wolves 2 – No HQ arrived from reserves. All units moved in towards the center objective. One grey hunter unit destroyed the vindicator, the remaining units moved in and fired at various units causing zero causalities, but Frost was immobilized.

Ice Angels 2 – Assault squad with captain and sanguinary priest arrive via deep strike. Death Company, along with remaining two tactical marines, moved towards the hunters by the destroyed vindicator. The sanguinary priest in the center moved out to support the tactical marines. Both devastator combat squads fire at the wolf guard terminator unit causing zero casualties.
In the assault phase the death company, tactical squad, and sanguinary priest assaulted the grey hunter unit. The sanguinary priest was killed along with one death company member, before the entire grey hunter unit was destroyed by the death company units powerfists. 6 attacks = 6 deaths.

Space Wolves 3 – Wolf Priest and Rune priest arrive on table behind a hill. Remaining grey hunter unit moves in and blows off plasma cannon, stormbolter, and close combat weapon off Frost, leaving him weaponless and immobilized. Wolf Guard unit moves in and assaults the devastator combat squad with the plasma cannons, they easily destroy the remaining four marines.

This picture was of the beginning of my turn, right after I moved before I assaulted.

Ice Angels 3 - Death Company moves towards last grey hunter unit. Last two tactical marines move back towards the objective. Frost stands still getting angry that he can’t move or fire. Assault squad fires at wolf guard and kills two. Death Company assaults and kills remaining grey hunter unit while loosing one more. Assault squad assaults wolf guard and destroy remaining terminators, but just barely.

Space Wolves 4 – Last two space wolves move onto the hill. The rune priest cast Freki and Geri and does zero damage to the death company. However the wolf priest fires his stormbolter and kills one of the death company leaving only 1 model and the chaplain.

Ice Angels 4 – The death company and chaplain, along with the assault squad jump towards the two HQ. The Ice Angels fire everything and do zero wounds. In the assault phase, the chaplain attacks the rune priest but all of his attacks are saved. In return the rune priest lays down the law and the chaplain dies, but the lone death company model kills the priest with his powerfist. The assault squad, captain, and sanguinary priest assaulted the Wolf Priest but only managed to do one wound. The Wolf Priest attacks back but does ZERO wounds. It was very amusing.

Space Wolves 5 – Straight to the assault phase! Captain goes first and all hits land and all wounds wound, he rolls his invulnerability check and fails miserably.

Victory goes to the Ice Angels.

Recap

Space Wolves – I love terminator armor. However, I failed every initiative check to run from combat. My shooting also turned out to be terrible. For whatever reason I didn’t expect so much of his army to assault me right off the bat. I also spent too much time firing at that stupid dreadnought Frost.

Ice Angels – Good lord the death company rules! 315 points for 4 dudes and a chaplain sounds like a bit much but they participated in the annihilation of three units and an HQ and after it was done I still had one guy left. My lascannons were useless and my dreadnoughts didn’t fair so well. Overall though, the Ice Angels took care of some business.

Space marine battle? I don't really like that. Plenty of Chaos and Necrons to kill
I really love your Ice Angels! Did you think of them yourself?

good battle, and success in the many battles in the future!

I came up with my Ice Angels about 15 years ago. Slowly over time they evolved to what they are today. I still need to touch up and base about 95% of them, but with the new Blood Angel codex and some new minis I have been very motivated to get started. I am sure I'll have further posts up here as more games are played. I am hoping next time to actually write out the battle as it is being played so I don't forget anything. I ended up spending quite some time trying to remember the correct order of things and as you can see I didn't take a ton of pictures.

lmao, i can't believe we both forgot about that. Thanks for pointing that out. I can already hear him yelling about a rematch, not like his lightning claws could have hurt my dreadnought any ways, lol.

Wolves dont have ATSKNF/Combat Tactics/Combat Squads, rather they have counter-attack/acute senses/close combat weapons. It works for them to have what they have, but it does need to be remembered.

Wolves dont have ATSKNF

Long time lurker and no first time poster so let me just say...

...Let me stop you there, matey, Space Wolves do indeed have ATSKNF just like all Imperial marine armies do, they just miss out on combat squads and combat tactics like you already pointed out.

...urrrr... I dunno

Sweet board, nicely painted armies, and even a little backstory thrown into the mix with the Ice Angels. This was a pleasure to read. Also, as a side note, SW do have ATSKNF, they just miss out on other regular marine rules.

Thanks guys. I felt a bit noobish after forgetting that rule, but maybe I'll be motivated to put up another battle report.

How did you feel about the actual report aspect of it? Should I elaborate more? Have more pictures? Make it more story like? Any suggestions?

One thing that I try to do with mine is photoshop little arrows in to show unit movement. It just helps a feeble mind like mine to appreciate what's going on in the photograph. I don't know if it helps anyone else... it may just be a "closer to 50 than 40" memory-aide thing.
