if the tyranids in this example are under the affects of the rage USR, would they charge the crisis suits if a single tyrnaid is closer or would they go for the fire warriors who are farther from the bottom tyranid but closer to the rest of the group?

bassicly do you measure for rage from a single model in the squad or do you go with the majority for rage?

Personally, they would multi-assault here, since it's tough to tell. If we had to go rules verbatim, then they would attack the fire warriors since more nids are closer to them.

See page 3 of the rulebook, Measuring Distances, paragraph two of that section for the answer:
"When measuring distances between two units, ..."

Hint: There's no "majority distance".

Although I don't know the exact rules, I would go for this as a compromise:

Whichever unit is closer to the majority of the models is the unit they have to charge under Rage.

Rage does NOT require that you assault.

ALL rage requires you to do is a) move towards the enemy and b) if Running do so towards the enemy and c) consolidate towards the enemy.

soo (i think) your ASSAULT move does not have to be towards the closest enemy; you can choose between the two units. someone care to correct me?

You dont have to assault at all.

If you DO assault, then you can simply choose who to assault.
