So I started building some tables to sell for table top war gaming, and thought I'd show my personal table or rather the one I've "finished" up for marketing purposes. Its not actually done, and its the third one I built, the first two were a 4x4 and a 4x8 table with the same design concept. This one still needs to be routered and stained ((and to those that know me and read router, yes all fingers still accounted for ))
Now the last picture answers the most common question I get; which is "does it fold flat?" The answer is "no, but yes." Those wedges are what hold the whole thing together really. There are four, which compress the legs together and with their heavy construction they're solid and will last a life time. The legs are built to mesh to the table top with four bolts that are only hand tightened meaning no tools required to assemble/dissassemble the table. The bolts really are only there to prevent the top from ever coming dislodged if a heavy weight is applied to one side of the table.
One thing that I'm REALLY looking forward to trying, is ordering a 5/8's plexiglass top for a 4x8 table. The purpose of this will to have a higher ledge around the table that the glass fits over; add a table cloth and you have a dining room table with a "war" going on under neath that house guests are unaware of until you pull the cloth.

I'm more interested in just the surface really. If you ever build a few that come apart in sections for easy transport, that would save a tonne on Freight charges (As something that big will no doubt be registered as "Oversized")
I'd certainly order one then

Actually I've been rehashing the design where I will be able to ship these in a 2ft by 4ft box that I can ship anywhere in Canada for a decent cost actually.
Another fellow in BC asked about that and really sparked the need to be able to ship these.
Right now I have the 2nd 4x8 to finish and then its back to changing only a few things. Actually the only thing I have to change to the design is how it connects the top together, a recieved in box would still require SOME assembly, though the only tooling would be to screw nail the ply wood down to the table top. Which I think MOST people in this hobby can handle... hmmmm I'd better predrill/mark them .
EDIT: BTW this one was only sanding so that I can show it off to the market as what its intended design is for. The shipped units will not have the foam or sand applied allowing the purchaser to choose their preferred products and method of scenery construction.

Just an idea: you may want to make one side removable so people can join it up to another for extra big games.

PICTURE UPDATE! Finished product stained table; feel like I gotta note it again cause a lot of people ask, but no this is the only table I'm doing a surfaced top on for marketing purposes. Surface tops CAN be added for a fee, but really make shipping hard .
Anyway the eye candy.

This is some beautiful craftsmanship, and its looks sturdy as hell to boot.
Good luck with the mass production.

Maybe you could cut the board in half and put some hinges on it so it folds together like a book the might help with shipping and storage for people you could put Styrofoam in between to protect surface. If this rely gets popular and you decide to ship to america I might pick one up.

There's no reason I can't ship into the States with the mk.II table ((which is the new one that comes in a 2x4 box so that it can actually be shipped.)) I'm just unsure how the cost would work out; it'd have to be on a per peice pricing for the start ((basically at cost shipping )) til I figure out how to source a good shipping line into the States.
