ive had a few fights with blood angles recently and they just seem booring to play against. It might just be the people i play but the whole army seems to just be fly up the feild and try to get into close combat. very few supprises or wonders about what a unit is going to do. Any one else bored doing battle with the angleS?

Runnin up on ya.

I would think as a nurgle player, you'd like it.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

Then you're bored with your opponents, don't blame the codex. Find someone to give you a challenge or take a handicap.

I played against BA last weekend.

My opponent decided to use his now weaponless predator as a ram to kill my rhino (also weaponless, but blocking LOS fine, thanyouverymuch).

Made an 18" flatout ram into the side armour S10(S6+4 [tank, +3 armour]). Penetrated. Immobilised.
Took a S10 hit to his own front armour. Penetrated. Blowed up reel good.

Silly BA.

I won the game.

Weight of fire works.

I was playing DH, btw.

Nice. I can see where the OP is coming at. The post is not about how l33t his skills are or how l33t his opponent is but generally how an optimised BA player is going to play (expect to see lots of razorbacks/jumpacks, fast preds and FNP).

It doesn't help that BA are the current cool cats and nearly everyone with a MEQ army is going to be running BA rules

Well I played 3 games with the same 2000pt BA list agaisnt BT, CSM, and Orks. I wiped to the man BT and Orks. The CSM won but if it had ended a turn early I would of won (but thats the game)

No as far as boring? Not did not think my list toko much thought to play, and could see that as boring. I am just havign to change up a few models to completely change my Army list to see how other things works.

On Dakka he was Eldanar. In our area, he was Lee. R.I.P., Lee Guthrie.

Work on your spelling and punctuation please. It's "Angels" not "Angles", and it makes your posts seem more intelligent when you take the time to hold shift on a letter here and there. As for them being boring to play against, I can't say too much about it. I'm guessing he's got maneuverable Marines in rhinos or with jump packs while you have a slow moving Nurgle army.

I've got to agree with the OP, the Angles are boring. I only gave their codex a cursory glance so there might be some interesting builds, but all I've seen so far is slight variations of either a giant death company or a couple assault squads running down the board with as few upgrades as possible. To be fair though, the last Angles codex had pretty much the exact same builds sans the ridiculous special rules.

The last codex I think may have been the most boring codex in all of 40k. Yes, behind even Necrons and CSMs! However, it had the excuse of being a WD codex. The new Angles codex does not have that distinction...

I agree that some armies that use the run forward and kill everything in combat are boring. They only have 2 common outcomes- they get into combat and win, or they don't reach you and die. Where are the tactics in running as fast as possible up the field and rolling dice with such good odds you are bound to win.

Not all combat armies are like this. BT are slower so require tactics to make sure you reach the enemy in one piece and orks die easy enough that you need to be careful not to loose too many. Problem with BA is that they are great in CC and very fast. Meaning that if you want they can hit you on turn 1 taking away any chance of reducing numbers and they are too good to beat in combat.

I for one will NEVER play BA.

I don't like them, never have. Not since they got their own divergent codex (2nd ed).

Same with the grey marines or the green ones. Or the other green ones in robes.

I'll stick with my plain vanilla and beat them (or not) without having to join the band-convoy (there's more than one wagon, judging by the numbers of "new-shiney-thing" players). After all, I'm playing this game because I like the armies I have, weaknesses included ) - not because I MUST win every game.

I dont know about the others, but Orks actually have a pretty good variety of successful builds, other then just CC move in and kill. Sure there are a couple builds that revolve around doing that, but we also have horde builds (both shooty and CC) that are mainly just to soak up kills and use over whelming attacks. Shooting also (what Im slowly moving into) Orks can bring some serious pain if you go with the shooting

Just saying

Im also with the crowd that cant stand BA though. I havnt played against them, but Ive read the codex some, and it just seems so, are you kidding me? Ive heard people say its fairly easy to counter them, but I mean the furioso that can get almost unlimited attacks, the deep striking LR Primarchs......I mean Sanguinor, those are so over the top it just makes me say "oh come ON!"

It's better than when they were called the Bangles

The thing is that they're pretty simple, so they're simple to trick. When I versed them what worked was to through a few cheap units into a building and make it seem like it was my main point of defense, whilst the real main point of defense was on the other side of the deployment zone.

As I expected "St. Celestine", the San Guard and the Death Company flew straight into the trap, Yriel only had to run out of a nearby wave serpent and suicide against this group. San Guard got shot to death before making it into CC, and the Avatar always seems to make a good lure for any trap. At the end of the combat "St. Celestine" (1 wound left) and one Death Company member survived. Yriel had been killed by "St. Celestine" in one hit, but had managed to wipe out about 8 out of 9 Death Company.

I had lost that objective leaving it at 1-1 at the end of that turn, but that's what Star Engines are for; changing it to 1-0.

I've only versed them once so I'm not bored yet. The player even said they would try different tactics next time. By that i'm expecting more DSing LRs, named characters and Death Company though. But they seem to be interesting enough to verse, I wouldn't play as them as I'm opposed to bandwagoning though.

Seems to me that this is more about bashing the new codex to make yourself feel better because you want a new one. Every codex has some staleness to them, its the players that make the game fun.

I personally find the Blood Angles a bit too obtuse for my tastes. There's an acute lack of variety in their combat tactics, leading to only one right way to play them. I guess all I'm trying to say, obliquely, is that they're not exactly the most well rounded army.
