Just curious to what weaponry do Ork players give their deff dread , and why.
With the recent plastic kit released i have seen most people giving them 4 DCCW o_o

I'd either do that, or 3 DCCW and a scorcha.

Yeah, I too am going for 3 DCCWs and a skorcha - I'd rather have the opportunity to flame infantry (or a soft vehicle) than keep that one extra HtH attack.

I run 2 Dreads alongside 9 rokkit-kans in my Dreadbash list.

As such, I simply add 2 scorchas, armor and grots to keep them cheap and effective (100 points). The extra CC weapons cost too much, IMO, and don't add much to my list, since I have 9 other walkers with DCCWs for CC goodness. Instead, I prefer 2x scorchas on each Dread so that they can thin down a squad before they assault it; sometimes even anihilate the squad w/o even needing to assault. BS2 is a great place for 2x Heavy Flamers

Even with a Skorcha you're pinning a lot on not being immobilized. A couple of Big Shootas can add six extra shots of S5 firepower with 36" range.

I run grots on both of my Dreads, as well as 2 KFF meks in my Kanwall list...my Dreads never stay immobilized for long

Then , after getting "non-immobilized" then can still either run or assault, depending on how close the opposition is.

I havnt used dreds very much, but when I have, Ive found 2 big shootas work nicely together. Thats alot of lead, specially against armies with poor saves. The only thing I see a problem with taking alot of DCCW is that unless your lucky enough to get right up to a vehicle without being shot up, chances are your going to lose alot of those pricey upgrades. But taking 2 big shootas, you can shoot the piss out of infantry, and afford to get a few weapon destroyed results

We doesn't put nuthin but klawz on our Deff Dreadz! Any of dem ovva gubbinz iz for weedy runts!

That's my inner Warboss talking. Sorry.

In my way of thinking, if a Deff Dread is out of Assault Rage it should be running!

If I was going to put KMB on anything,it would be kans to take advantage of the BS 3.
As far as kitting out Deff Dreads,I go with 4 ccw or 2 ccw/2 skorcha.

It does depend in part on what's in the rest of your army. Personally I have rokkit kanz (to take advantage of BS 3) and lots of cheap big shootas elsewhere, so I want my dredds to concentrate on what the rest of the army can't do so well - chop up big hard targets. So I make them non-shooty so they can concentrate on running at the enemy - the skorcha is the only exception as it's close-range, I fully expect to get tar-pitted by suicide infantry squads and need a little protection.

I take +1 DCCW, and depending on points, either a second or a skorcha.

My problem is, I have no kans. Im redoing my army to be shooty( and lots -o- flash gits) so I currently have none lol. Im pretty sure if I had kans, Id go rokkits for sure as the BS would make them much better.

As far as KMB goes on a DRED, Id say no way. The BS is just to low to do anything, and a bit pricey to put 2 on there.

It's +5pts on a Rokkit Launcha and lets you fry Terminators and the like. Seriously, that's like less than a single Ork!

I smash the dreds in half and build rokkit kanz out of them.
