So I was thinking: It would be funny, and cool to use these in grenade launchers and missiles. Obviously thrown grenades aren't part of the game anymore.

Hallucinogenic: Is a blast weapon using the small blast marker. The squad takes a LD test with a minus equal to the models under the blast template. If it fails, roll 1d6 and apply it to that squad until the beginning of your next turn. Necrons and Tyranids ignore Hallucinogenic weaponry.
1. My hands have turned into tentacles! My fingers are turning into worms! (Reroll if any members of the squad actually HAVE tentacle hands/arms) The squad halves it WS, BS, I, and A, rounding down.
2. There's spiders all over us! Bugs, in our clothes! Why?! The squad does nothing for the turn and count as WS and I 1 if charged.
3. That object just moved! It tried to fool us! But we'll get it! Save the day! The squad skips its shooting phase.
4. They're going to get us! Run! Run as far as you can! For feth's sake, RUN! The squad falls back as though it just failed LD due to casualties.
5. That bastard...you never liked him. He cheated you. Made fun of you. Now it's your turn to get revenge! You'll blow his head off! Hahahahahah! Roll 1d6 for each member of the squad, on a 1 that model takes a wound, saves at -1 are allowed.
6. The sky...it's so beautiful and blue. You just want to relax, lay down amongst the tall green grass and sleep. The squad is pinned and reduces it WS, BS, I, and A to zero and become Fearless.

Rad: Choose a point within firing range (the model firing a rad missile/grenade may fire at something different than the rest of the squad) and place a marker there and roll for scatter. Anyinfantry squad that enters within 6" of that marker must take a Dangerous Terrain test. Necrons ignore this. Note: Instead, within 2" of that marker. 6" is waaaaay too much.

Virus:
Range: 24" Str 1 (Poisoned 2+) AP-- Blast
(Note that Necrons ignore this weapon)

Thoughts? How many points should these cost?

Dont go back in time to immune armies mate
Going way back now to the marines ignoring effects from various things.

For necrons it may even be a virus that eats away at metallic material in the case of the last one.

Other than that, i do think we need more variation.

I'm not a big fan of making things totally immune but I think that it works and makes sense for the most part. Granted it does open a can of worms and Poisoned affects Necrons anyway, so...

Yeah, Frag and Krak are fine but these make for much much more funny and exciting gameplay!

Especially when Khorne Berzerkers decide to take a nap in the beautiful fields.

You do realize that the nap in beutiful fields effect auto-kills the unit effected(not by making them auto-hit, but because if a model has any stat reduced to 0 it is destroyed).

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

Are you sure? I thought that it was either Toughness or Wounds. Oh dear. If what you're saying is true then I'm gonna need to change that one!

Perhaps it skips its turn and becomes Fearless?

Sorry, but there is no such rule. The only stat that is a problem if reduced to 0 is Wounds.

It looks like you just wrote in what the Hallucinogen effects are for Necromunda and Inquisitor

I actually stole them from Rogue Trader. I changed around the descriptions and effects a little, though.

Any thoughts on point costs?

Rad has a potential to be seriously abused. Maybe if I made it a missile that you could use once and then buy more missiles it wouldn't be so bad. Actually the radius needs to be reduced to like 2 or 3. Then the cost per missile could be around 15 points.

For Hallucinogenic: Also has serious potential to be abused. Entire armies could theoretically be shut down by IG heavy weapons teams. However I can't foresee giving this upgrade to the IG. Perhaps 12 per missile?

Virus is ironically the most balanced of them. I could see making the upgrade a flat 20 or so.

If it makes any difference, these are meant for a Daemonhunters codex that I am making. So probably not nearly as abusable.

I must have been thinking of another game system; I have played far too many over the years.

It's all good.

Tentative costs:

Hallucinogenic: May pay 5 points PER missile/grenade.
Rad: May pay 10 points PER missile/grenade.
Virus: Add 10 points to the cost of the missile launcher/grenade launcher.

Hallucinogenic is awsome.(adds meaning to the phrase "krak" missile, sniff it! i dare you )

Rad? i like the effect, but don't understand it.

Virus is fine.

First off, thanks.

Second:

For Rad. Let's say that I choose to fire it with my Missile Launcher. I place a point, let's say 12 inches away as there are some Orks incoming. I would place a little counter there, probably a dice. Then I roll for scatter, and move the counter appropriately. Then, any infantry models that enter within 2" of that counter take a dangerous terrain test. (Represents all the radiation and nastiness!)

Hope that helps.

Haha, hipster missile:

The squad hit takes a LD test on 3d6. If it fails, the squad skips its turn as it is too busy fighting against "the man" and drinking in free trade coffee shops whilst wearing fake Ray-Bans.

Hi folks.
I am all for more variety. However I think simpler effects would make them more user friendly!
Using the old RT as a source of the uber kewl stuff we used to use....

Eg
Hallucinogen.
5" blast, all models under the Blast template have thier Initiative reduced to 1, and strike last in any assaults due to being totaly deranged!

Tangle foot.
5" blast , creates a area of difficult ground for all units, except, vehicles and MCs.

Anti Plant
5"blast, removes any organic cover .(Trees bushes scrub , long grass etc.)

Stasis.
3 " blast, any model moving through the effected area HALVES movement, and can not shoot this turn.

Blind.
3" blast , area totaly blocks LOS.

Ill leave virus and vortex well alone , as they have a very bad rep and are still hated by some even today....

TTFN
Lanrak.

I've been playing Dark Eldar since before the hype came out about them, so I guess that makes me a long-term player
