ok so
second time doing a battle report
i should get this right

i know what you're thinking...
"Noto you flippant bugger, why are you doing another BR with Tyranids?"
well i haven't had my camera the other times and/or forgotten to take pictures
another friday night at attactix
i played a bloody 2000 point game against CSM and barely lost (6 KP's/7 KP's)
forgot to take pictures
then i met Paul
he wanted to try out his nids
and i wanted to try out Cassius (which i STILL don't have the ing model for)
he only had around 1500 points
so i gave a great sigh and made a brand new list
and here it is

Calgar w/ honour guard in LRC
two tac's one in a rhino
Cassius with 10 man sternguard in a droppod

that's all i had on the field
if it doesn't add up to 1500 then oh well
i fought hard anyways

Paul had...
nid prime with some other warriors all with bone swords and lash whips
two hive guard
deathleaper
squad of termies
tervagaunt
zones in spore
biovore
some gargoyles
and two squads of genesteelers with broodlords

so here's our set up

not much but rocks

we rolled
pitched battle annihilation

i got to deploy first

TURN ONE FIRST HALF

i drop my SG and cassius down and riddle the warriors with hellfire rounds
i know i could have just as easily used kraken bolts
but then i would wound less
i rolled terrible
dealing two unsaved wounds
LRC rolled up add shot a few gargoyles
rhino moved up
nothing much else happened

TURN ONE SECOND HALF

warriors move up and engage my SG
biovore kills two of my tac's
HG wreck my DP
in assault EVERYTHING dies
save for cassius and a one or two SG's
i bet they taste good

TURN TWO FIRST HALF

kill a few more goyles
a warriors or two
and most of the termies
and his biovore is no more (thanks to ID)
warriors mop up my SG
but cassius is still kicking
lossing by one KP's

TURN TWO SECOND HALF

Deathleaper and one squad of GS's show up
GS's kill most of my tac marines with rending claws
but still alive
cassuis takes a wound
but he's a BAMF
nothing can keep him down for long

TURN THREE FIRST HALF

calgar shows up to kill some nids
take out his nid prime
and one shot his deathleaper
lose another tac marine

TURN THREE SECOND HALF

cassius finally dies
and another squad of GS's arrive with some zones
zones take out my LRC
GS's mop up my tac while i kill the rest of the warriors
and the HG take out the rhino

TURN FOUR FIRST HALF

tac kills the spore
calgar kills the tervagaunt

TURN FOUR SECOND HALF

mad dash to get to the tac while getting away from calgar
i had to leave soon so we decided to end it early

RESULTS
tied at six to six

a fun game
i had a great time
the best battles are the ones where you're not sure who will win by turn three
i got to try out cassius
the BAMF he is
T6 and feel no pain
what's not to love?
and calgar has proved his might yet again

hopefully you've enjoyed this

I've been playing Dark Eldar since before the hype came out about them, so I guess that makes me a long-term player

Well, I did enjoy it.

But I've got some tips. You should
-deploy the land raider in the center so it can react faster to the enemy's deployment (if you are going first). Otherwise the LR has to spend a couple of turns driving closer.
-Play the sternguard more conservatively if you are up against a foe that is superior in melee or packs more firepower. In this battle it was the SG squad against all what the enemy had on table so the sternguards' deaths were inevitable.

You have so few units in the army so the units you have must support each other and not fight alone. So put the sternguards in the front and the land raider deathstar just behind them. It will make the enemy think twice whether he wants to kill the SG but then get killed in turn by the Calgar.

I'd like to see more reports from you

very true
i wanted to get my SG close enough to rapidfire
but far enough away to avoid those boneswords

Nice batrep

Quick tip though.
Dont bother rapid firing against warriors with boneswords, the last thing you want is to be close to them.
Its worth sitting back and single firing until they are close enough for you to rapid fire, that way you can break the unit down while staying in a safe zone.
