Just want to know whats the difference between the 2 , and why they made it that way

and
alot of the mkIV have an extra piece , where does it go?

And are they going to be making a BA Ven dread anytime soon?

Also was wondering , what are most people's take if they see different faction's dreads in 1 same army?

IIRC, the extra piece is a Storm-Bolter which fixes to the hull of the Dread, although this is only for a certain type of Dread, like the MK4 or something.

I think it still fits the Venerables, although you would need to check first.

Another question.

For hybrid kits like Leman Russ and Hydra ,
is the plastic part it comes with the latest edition?

Or old ones?

The only hybrid kit I bought was the classic Executioner and all you get is literally a classic Leman Russ kit, and the Executioner turret.

If you buy a "complete" hybrid kit, it's pretty much a certainty that you'll end up with the new version of the base kit.

Forge World, I sincerely doubt, keeps huge warehouses of the old kits so that they can send them out for orders.

The Mk IV style is probably sloped instead of blocked so it matches the other Mk IV style.

You indeed get the old Chimera/Leman Russ for the hydra and full Leman Russ kits on forgeworld.

The new kits do NOT fit the forgeworld kits (i.e new Russ chasis and new Chimera chasis).

Mars Alpha hull still fits however.

That is what I thought on the chimera kits. FW doesn't need to have a huge warehouse full, but they must have at least some, and I wouldn't be terribly surprised if there were an issue with the availability of old hulls in the far future.

The Russ hybrid kits are not compatible with the new Demolisher. Most notably the part of the turret that goes into the hull so it can rotate are different sizes on the two kits, so the hybrid kit turrets are too large. Less noticable is the fact that the hull of the new demolsher have slightly different angles... 1 or 2 degrees as a result of how they recut the sprue so it isn't even cross compatible with the old plastic russ hull without extra work.

Well, see, the oddity of it is that the Hydra I bought from them last month included the "new" Chimera.

The Hydra/Manticore should since the part their turrets mount to is included and the surface that plate goes onto didn't change.

That's a bit odd, they gave me the old chimera (with the wheels) on my armageddon pattern basilisk. I might be wrong on the chimera in that case, my apologies.

The new russ chasis definitly doesn't fit the forgeworld turrets however, this I am certain, as the turret ring is very different.

IIRC, someone in the know stated when the new site came out that they would be sending out old style Chimeras until their stock on them ran out and then they'd send the new style.

Which makes it even MORE annoying because I am in trades to get an "old" Chimera from a friend Down Undah so my Chimeras stay the same across my forces.

It's also worth noting that they only have the "new" Chimera listed under GW plastic kits, so I sincerely doubt they're sending out "old" Chimeras right now.

There's no real "inconsistencies".

Some people may have ordered before the Chimera kit was altered, and gotten them closer to the changeover.

But it doesn't matter either way, because it's not rocket surgery to fit the Hydra bits onto the "new" Chimera.

No its not rocket surgery , but some people (aka ME) rather have the new chimera kit and dont want any chance of receiving an old one.

Hence unless anyone is 100% certain that from today's date and on , FW will only send new chimera kit to go with the Hydra,
there isnt much to debate about.

The point's moot anyways, since they're advertising it as a resin conversion kit for the Basilisk now.

No , i was just letting you know you assumed that im worried about the old vs new variants because it might not fit.
But the truth is i rather fancy the new chimera over the old chimera. Better shovel , new updated look for the turret / driver / HK missile / storm bolter / hvy stubber.

What do you mean they are advertising it as resin kit for Basilisk?

Then be more specific about your question rather than "is it the old or the new one"?

But read the description on the page.

A question is a question , which the answer to my question would have given me the info i need.

The purpose of my question isnt really necessary for you to pry into. Not to mention i find the "its not rocket surgery"
remark unnecessary. We all have aspects we suck at.

To be honest, it sounds like you need to ask Forgeworld, not a bunch of random internet people.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.

Yep I emailed, i have heard that it usually take them very long to reply to questions if its not directly related to an existing order.
Thus i ask here to see if anyone already know a certain answer.

Emailing them is pointless. I emailed them concerning an existing order (which has arrived already) and they are still yet to get back to me.

If you are the concerned about it you would be best phoning the workshop.

Just got another order of forgeworld stuff using the chimera as a base. Still the old one for me. I guess they still stock the "old" chimera's in the UK.

How about we upgrade that "one" with some underscoring, italics, boldfacing, red coloring, and size 72 font?

End result:
