What is everyone's preferred method? Is there anyone out there who does it who was a dummy (like me) and actually GLUED the entire thing together so that the wings and tail don't come off? I have two of them that I'm looking to transport for 'ard boyz and my choices feel like either GW basilisk boxes with packing peanuts or carry them very carefully in my hands, neither of which sound like good times.

You haven't glued on the base, have you? As long as you haven't done that, it's not that bad. I'd recommend picking up a cheap gun case or two. You can get a cheap plastic-with-eggshell-foam pistol or rifle/shotgun case for twenty or twenty five bucks. Often at your local Walmart or someplace convenient, too.

Thankfully, I did manage sense at least to not glue on the base. That rifle case is tempting, though I was honestly hoping for something that would turn less heads should I have to travel publicly. I will consider that though.

I'm using the kaiser rush valk case myself.

Battlefoam also has a specific valk cutout, and Sabol has double wide pluck foam that would work too.

@hungryp:
I have a motor pool and I was actually looking at the doublewide pluck you mention, but I wasn't 100% sure that a valk would fit. Have you tried it?
@ Scott-S6:
Thats actually a REALLY nice cutout. Do you know the dimensions? Will it fit the Sabol Motor Pool?

Will it fit the Sabol Motor Pool? 38x25x11 cm Note that unlike the battlefoam tray it holds the stand as well. Valk stand 4x chimera or russ chassis (with removable turrets) 4x turrets 20x infantry ETA, the chassis slots are quite generous. I have mars alpha russ hulls (longer than standard) with marine lascannons in the hull mount (longer than standard) and fuel drums on the back and they just squeeze in. There's also a tray that takes valk+stand+two tanks with attached turrets+two sentinels+20 infantry.

I haven't done it myself, but even with the wings on it, you shouldn't have any problem fitting it in the 13"x15" tray. It's a bit short of 13" nose to tail, and less than that from wingtip to wingtip.
