Sooooooo... I caught a random bug about wanting to be able to field Ogryns but I don't particularly like the models. My Guard force has a hi-tech vibe so I thought of doing a robotic alternative. My needs were rather well met by the Pig-Iron wardroid, but I'm not fond of the dopey head you get with it.
Hence I have randomly jammed together a series of trials based on random GW bits I have lying about and was looking for some second/third/multi-opinions
As Ogryns also get Frag grenades I think the MODgryn will also be getting assault launchers and comms gear for the BONEHead.
So, here we go:
1 - Original - The head you get with the model
2 - Infantry - The head I am using on the bulk of my infantry
3 - Quadcore - A couple of Guard binoculars together into a head-shaped object
4 - Nosey - Again with the Binox but in a different orientation
5 - Basic - The targetting sensor off a Predator sponson
6 - Oddness - My least favourite so far but might jog some advice from you lovely people
7 - Teddybot - umm.. yeah, well (may also look a bit too froglike)
8 - Fishy - Its quite wide, but I think it looks pretty good

Im thinking number 2.
Number 4 looks alot like Johnny 5 from short curcit
Number 5 Isnt too bad... But number 2 is still the best IMO
BTW love your whole army I have almost started my own guard army from looking at yours.

This is silly! Buttons are not how one escapes dungeons! I would smash the button and rain beatings liberally down on the wizard for playing such a trick!

The single binoculars give it the feeling of those two 'bots from Transformers II, which you may not want. #5 has a good look to it.

1 or 2 for sure. The others make them look to much like something the Tau threw out.

Have you considered inverting number 6? You might like it a lot more that way...

Ooh.. feedback, awesomeness!
@boy205 - thanks for the encouragement
@Cosmic - The idea is that they are robots. My main concern about using the Infantry head is that it will make it look a bit more cyborg-ey rather than roboty. Having said that, the Infantry head is actually bigger than the robot head that comes with the model
@KingCracker - Yeah, the other heads are a bit Heath Robinson. I do have Tau stuff kicking about but I thought it better to use Imperial bits and bobs for the Guard.
@Khaine - I just tried that but it makes it look too much like a sad, surprised clown
Hmm... I wonder if I can bulk up the Infantry head somehow just to make it look a bit more mechanical...
Anyone got any ideas?

#2 definitely fits best with the look of the rest of the model, but I'd go with my second favorite, #5, if you're afraid that using the same head as the infantry models will suggest cyborg. Honestly, though, head #2 is such a good fit it'd be a waste not to use it. Even without modification, I think a cohesive metallic paintjob would be sufficient to separate it from the troopers. Everything else looks rather cartooney, by comparison.

Ooh... thats not a bad idea, actually, with the paint job. I'm wanting camo pretty much throughout the army, but I could give the MODgryns the vehicle variant (with metallic worky bits), rather than the infantry scheme... And maybe try some point source lighting coming out of the visor to contrast with the infantry dull-glass visors...

On the heads; none of them. A head from Pig Iron would work well, but not one that matches the troops. Something different to make them stand out as unique units.

I like 8-fishy the best, it's a lot like a standed helm with targeting systems, but unfortunately going from what king kracker said, it does look like something scavenged from tau

I like #5 But I'm a big fan of making things look "standard issue" and then working on little details to add personality. However my second choice is #2.
Looking good!

I suggest the infantry head, so no. 2. But 5 looks good gof a robot, depends on what look you were going for.... human or robotic?
A frined of mine actually used the tau stealth suits for his ogryns, just wacked a head in them..... I think.
Have a look, that's if you already haven't bought too much of the other models
Good luck

Voted infantry head, glad to see its the majority vote. The others look too Tau-ish, and the infantry head makes it clear that there's a soldier in the suit.
