Hello All

I have always been a fan of plastic and plastic glue but recently I bought some resin minis and had to use super glue.

How on earth do you use it. What I did was dab on some glue one side and press it against the other but when i let go it falls right off, as if it was water on there but when i accidently get my fingers near there it bonds instantly to my fingers.

Its making me so angry

With metal models its best to trim off all of the flash and tags, then soak them in warm water with a little cleaner.
This removes the mould release thats usually over them, and will allow the super glue to do its job.

Also, if you putting 2 areas together, use a sharp blade to scratch into the area a few times, this allows the glue an area to bond with rather than a flat surface.

Yep, thats part of how you do it on metal, now answering his resin question might be more useful to the OP

Firstly super glue takes alot longer to set then plastic glues. I also love plastic glue, because how you said you tried it works in about 1 second. Push and let go. But with super glue that isnt how you do it. Super glue I always pin (unless the mini in question is to small to do this to. Then you have to basically let the super glue set for a minute or two, until it starts to hold a bit. Infact alot of people will use something to hold the parts together for a few until it sets.

But yea always soap and water a resin mini to get the mold release off just in case. Also scraping the area your planning on gluing to rough it up is a good ideas as well. Gives it more to hold to. Other then that good luck

The trick with superglue is to make sure both surfaces are flat and slightly rough (gives more surface area to grab).

If superglue takes longer than a few seconds, you are using TOO MUCH. It's LESS is MORE with superglue.

Unless you have a gel-type or gap-filling glue, superglues are not good at gaps.

If it's FW resin, give it a good scrub in slightly warm water and detergent (not too warm unless you want to bend the bits). Possibly even a second scrub with a toothbrush dipped in methylated spirits or rubbing alcohol as their mould release sticks better than babygak to a blanket.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.
