Hey guys, sorry if this isnt in the appropriate section I just wasn't all that sure what this would fall under.

I finished painting what I had started with for my chaos army so far, I had decided to paint them in the scheme of nurgle, because we all know disease and pestilence is oh so sexy

but as I finished a thought came into my head that worried me, since I painted my warriors and knights as Nurgle will I be forced to play them with a mark of Nurgle? with tournies and casual play in mind.

My plan was to paint all models with no specific chaos god in mind (ex. warriors, maurauders, chariots etc) in the colors of nurgle and play them with whatever mark I want or no mark at all.

and the second part was to paint the god specific models (ex. Khorne Lord on Juggernaught, sorcerer of tzeentch) in the specific colors of their god.

Does this sound like a good plan?
and also just so my other question doesnt get lost in the text

since I painted my warriors and knights as Nurgle will I be forced to play them with a mark of Nurgle?

and for fun I'll include my painted models I have so far let me know what you think

Thank you for reading hope to hear from you guys soon.

Marks are usually modelled onto the models themselves, not just a paintjob. Ie. a unit with the mark of khorne should have khornate markings and shizz. That said, running a unit painted nurgleet and not giving them a mark or giving them a mark of nurgle is fine, however, I wouldn't give them any of the other 3 chaos god's marks, as it really makes no sense.

I have yet to play against Chaos Warriors; I've seen them a number of times, but since I didn't match up with them I can't remember if their marks were shown through the paintjob or not. My thinking is that most were painted neutrally, so that they could give them whatever mark they wanted.

So, if your "army paint scheme" just happens to look like nurgle, but you don't put the symbols anywhere, you could probably get away with giving them different marks. However, if you paint some units in a nurgle-like scheme, and others not, then it would be very confusing if they didn't get the mark.

This is easier in daemon armies, when the different units belong to different gods, and so they can automatically be painted in the correct colors.

So, if I were you I'd consider painting the whole army as you have done above, and then applying marks freely as you see fit. I would think these would qualify as a magical item, and not need to be modelled? But again I'm really not sure... :-/.

Is Boss_Salvage up yet?

Edit: Sweet-looking dragon ogre, btw!
