So I came up with this list to be kind of a mix of shooty / assaulty with a good amount of troops for objective games, what do you think?

Blade Parry; Psychic Monstrosity; Swarm Leader; Bonesabres; Shadow in the

1 Tervigon (Troops) @ 195 Pts
#Dominion; Catalyst; Shadow in the Warp; Synapse Creature; Brood
Progenitor; Spawn Termagants; Adrenal Glands; Toxin Sacs; Stinger Salvo

7 Genestealer Brood (Troops) @ 172 Pts
Rending Claws; Scything Talons

1 Broodlord @ [60] Pts
#Aura of Despair; #Hypnotic Stare; Rending Claws

1 Mawloc (Heavy Support) @ 205 Pts
Burrow; Terror from the Deep; Adrenal Glands; Regeneration

Models in Army: 45

Total Army Cost: 1500

Basically the plan is to get the swarmlord into action as soon as possible... The warriors harass with their guns, while the tervigon spawns babies and advances slowly up, using the the termagants to screen. I like to stick the hive guard somewhere in range that blocks los, then just shoot anything heavy that comes nearby. The zoans hopefully drop in near some armor and take it out, while the stealers outflank and give my opponent something else to worry about while everything else moves up. Also, the mawloc submerges turn 1, comes up turn 2 hopefully hitting something.

What do you think?

Another thing I'm considering is dropping swarmlord, taking a regular tyrant with a few upgrades, and throwing in a tyranid prime to improve the warrior brood a bit.

I think you need more than one guard for the swarmlord as it will attract masses of fire power and one guard won't hold up long.

Warriors are fine. All built for anti infantry.

While 'stealers are awesome in combat I'd be inclined to take two units of hormagaunts. Reason is both units in singles will be easy targets but taken in pairs gives multiple threat; however you haven't got enough points to take two units of 'stealers.

Well, I reworked the list a bit. Dropped swarm lord, changed the tyrant + guard around a bit, dropped the mawloc in favor of a trygon (trygon just seems like more of a beast in CC to me, + the trygon prime weapon is nasty). So what do you think now?

Drop the Exoskeleton on the 'rant. In that group of guard, he should be fine. It is actually useless as most things killing you would ignore that armour save.
With this, you should be able to try to fit one more hive guard in there.

I agree drop the exoskeleton. instead of a 3rd guard, why not drop old adversary and beef up your warrior unit? With a strong unit of warriors it could take some pressure of your tyrant, especially with a trygon prime wrecking havok. Just thoughts.

Uh, I might be wrong about this, but I don't think tyrants can drop the exoskeleton, its just their normal armor.

Oh, I thought it might be that 2+ armour upgrade.
If I right, then you should get more warriors. I seemed to skip that.

armored shell is the 2+ lol

I think the list looks decent, almost to many troops actually, you have 5 troop slots filled, which is considerably a lot at 1500. 60 models is defintly a good number at 1500 as well. I think it would do well, nothing crazy, but not super weak.

Hmm, too many troops? I suppose I could drop 1 hormagaunt brood... A gargoyle brood 18 strong with AG/ TS would work out to exactly the same amount of points, which would be a nice distraction.

The other thing I'd like to try out eventually is a brood of biovores. I don't really see ANY lists with those in them, they seem like they could be kind of useful, but I dunno.

People people the bonded exoskeleton is standard wargear for 3+ save. Armoured shell is 2+.

Something I have found with a tyrant in close combat and that's they do not last very long, reason is lack of invulnerable saves. So you charge and you can maim normal infantry but against power weapons forget it. Your only chance is the sword and whip, adrenal glands for strength and initiative boost (though not essential) and acid blood - the las hwhip makes the enemy models I1 so when doing initiative test for acid blood they need to roll a 1 to pass or no armour saves

I don't think you need the prime as you have enough synapse already tbh.
