I haven't bought a video game for my PS3 in some time, and though I don't go ONLY off of published reviews, I like to have something to make me feel warm and fuzzy before I spend my hard earned dollars!

I feel confident on this one though!

You probably won't be disappointed. Rockstar hasn't made any real duds yet.

I'd be lying if all the press isn't persuading me to pick up a PS3 and that game.

So far, I'm impressed. However--getting alternate outfits is a pain in the ass.

Isn't that game also comming out on Xbox?

Red dead revolver was good if linear and this as it is more of an open format should be brilliant

Got it for the 360, it rocks big time. The menu system is a bit of a bother though, requiring you to boot up single player before you can get into free roam via system link.

I can't wait to get this game!

I'm about midlevel in multiplayer, it kind of gets old. The most effective way to get XP is to grind gang hideouts, and it takes over 200 runs to hit max level. With 6 hideouts, you see lots of repetition.

Get it that game is one of the best games I have ever played. 10x better than MW2

I've played and seen the xbox360 and PS3 versions of the game one right after another on the same TV, and the graphical difference between the 2 versions is pretty astounding.

the Xbox version has much better anti-aliasing, but the PS3 version has more realistic lighting. The lighting difference is harder to notice, but its easier to see when you are in darker areas with limited lights than when you are out in the middle of the desert with the sun bearing down.

the only other difference in the games comes from a couple of different outfits that are console exclusive (IIRC there are 13 on the Xbox, 1 unique, and 15 on the PS3, 3 unique) and the PS3 version includes a gang hideout not available on the Xbox version, Soloman's Folly.

Overall I would get this on the PS3 over the xbox because of the extra content. If you are a stickler for graphics you may consider going for the xbox, but if the graphics are THAT important to you, its a tougher call because of the lighting difference.


Whether or not to get the game? Get it. its a very good game, it "feels" like a GTA game, but that feel is much better suited to a western shooter than an urban crime game IMO.

Its good but not amazing...it will get tiring soon as all games do...plus slowed INTRO MOMENT


But you know what sucks......when you play it at a friends how and you like "wow this is pretty cool. I may just buy or rent this." Then later on in the day you find that your brother rented the game. Go home only to find out you left you controller at your friends house

Is it free-roam after you beat it or is there and end scene and thats it, you have to start over?

After you finish the story missions you can still do free roam and do all the things you missed, yeah.

It feels so much like GTA.

The thing that reminded me of it more than anything was the "Sat nav" on the map.

Lol okay thanks. Idk, but it constantly makes me want to throw my controller accross the room, LIke I've shot at people while on a horse and instead of killing my target, my horse puts his head right in front of the gun, launching me. and other stupid stuff like that keeps happening.

I've only accidently shot my horse in the head once. But yeah, that was annoying. I try to turn my horse to the side whenever I shoot. Less risky that way.

Have you ever had it where you call you bought horse which is fast, during a mission where it gives you a horse, and as you ride away from the mission horse it says you fail cause you killed your horse?

Can't recall that ever happening to me. But I've never bought a horse from a store.

Apparently there's an update coming at some point next week. Hopefully there's a fix there.

yea, that may be why that never happened to you, but I probably can't get the expansion unless my friend buys it and lends it to me considering I don't have that much money.......Have you ever seen a truly black or a truly white horse in the game? I've seen almost fully black or white except for one spot! man I see those everywhere, but one time I saw the most beautiful Amber Horse, it had a fiery mane and was a beautiful color, I went to catch it but I can't remember what but something I think story related happened so I couldn't catch it.

The fully black horse and the fully white horse are faster then all the others (except the gold one you break with bonnie..)

Looks pretty cool, but being a bandit seems so counter productive, as well as just a little disturbing sometimes.

I'm playing this a second time with the expert targetting to make it interesting.. and dead eye useful.

Also this is probably the first video game I have seen with a satisfying ending.

I picked this up yesterday and played it all day and night. trying to be a good guy, I'm up to the part where whats her name is getting hung and you gotta rescue her.

Overall it's fun and the story is good, but sometimes it just seems pretty dull. Lots of back and forth and riding through the countryside is kinda dull. yeah it looks nice but apart from gunning down the occasional bandit or picking flowers, there's nothing really else to do between missions. Last few missions I did I just stopped riding anywhere and I'd camp and do fast travel instead.
