Is it considered bad form to play a 1500 point game with only 2 troop choices? Even if the choices are maxed out? (In my case two 12 member fire warrior teams.

I wouldn't thinks so, because really all your doing is limiting the amount of objectivers you can capture because troops can capture objectives...or units with some special rules i.e crimson fist chapter master kantor lets sternguard(?) to count as scoring untis.
troops= scoring units

Nah man it's fine. Lose your troops in an objective game, you lose the game and that would suck.

I play Marines and I wouldn't go above two troops until an 1850 level.

If you can do it with two more power to you. Most people I see use more troops than anything.

Bad form? No. But you are taking a big risk. Especially with troops as vulnerable to assault as Fire Warriors.

Now if you were taking Two IG platoons at 1500, then it might be bad form.

But you are playing Tau, so anything you do disadvantages you!

Since i mostly play annihilation, and my troops are nothing more then fodder anyway, You will rarely even see more then two troops in my army list, and if there are, at least 1 of them is a deff dread, if not two, depending on if i am running both big meks or not. Which would obviously be a bad choice in a tournament... but otherwise, its not bad at all, thats why there is a force organization chart if you declared a point limit and no organization specifics anything within normal FOC applies.

As long as you follow the FOC requirements then everything is fine,if anyone is telling you something else then I would advice you to ignore them

huh, you have probably the best troop unit in 40k, they are hardly "just cannon fodder"

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

If your list is legal, you're good.

If your list is WYSIWYG, you're good.

Be polite to your opponent.

Have your rulebook, measuring device, dice, and any templates you need along with your codex handy.

All set!

That's game etiquette. Anything else is golden, you're free to use anything you like in your list.

Just out of curiosity Gwar, why would taking two IG platoons at 1500 be bad form? Is it because of how many figures could go into the 2 platoons at that many points? The only other option for IG would be either the veteran squad or the Penal Legion, which would be the second better choice?

I say it's "Bad Form" because you can get 12 Chimeras and 110 bodies for a paltry 1220 points, which is too much for most other armies at 1500 to deal with. Personally at 1500 though (when I get bored and play Guard on Vassal), I take Meltavets in Vendettas.

You should generally have one troops choice for every 500 points. In objective games you'll get screwed otherwise, but to be fair you're playing Tau already so you should be used to the short end of the stick.
