Inside that little light in your refridgerator

After rewriting my ork list for the umpteenth time, I decided to give a big mek a bike, with the intent that he would be able to get his KFF where I needed it. Upon closer inspection, I discovered that bike+KFF=illegal, so I dived back into his wargear options.

I came upon the Power Klaw. Then it hit me.

Use the Big mek on a bike for a (relatively) cheap Power Klaw delivery system.

Has anyone used this setup before? (Mek, bike, klaw) Any success stories? Any hints on how to use such a unit?

Cheers in advance if I don't update

That fails, an I1 IC that can be picked out and killed before he can attack is pretty bad.

Heed Noarde's advice. Big Meks are very fragile in close combat. It's best to keep them stripped down. I sometimes put 'eavy armor on them so I can allocate a few shooting attacks to them over the course of a game instead of killing boyz (depending on how you roll this could save you three or four boyz).

If you're using an HQ on a bike, why not go for a warboss? Big Meks need a shokk attack gun or the KFF IMO, otherwise they're just a subpar HQ choice.

If you need a Klaw, you might as well grab the Warboss. That said, you can give a Big Mek a Power Klaw if you stick him in a Deffrollawagon with Boarding Planks.

My two cents: I've never found the Big Mek with the Klaw to be worth it. Again, for me he's mostly a KFF bearer who hides behind my kans to get a "between models" cover save. Never really used them in CC.

I use a Big Mek with a Powerklaw. He goes into a battlewagon with a unit, and when the unit disembarks to get into combat, the KFF stays embarked; he and the battlewagon go tank-hunting via deffrollas, boarding planks, and grabbin' klaws for the rest of the game.

I was planning on using him to take out vehicles of less than AV 13. I figure I want the warboss in the nobz unit.

Plus, the Big mek on a bike with a klaw has good move, good dakka, 4+ armour save, 4++ cover save, and 4 S9 attacks on the charge. All for 100 points.

The Mega-boss will mop up when he arrives, boyz in tow.

I can see the value of using him as a KFF or SAG bearer, but I want to keep to the minis I have in my collection for the most part.
I also don't like my warboss rushing ahead and getting blatted.

Anyone have their views on using him as a cheap, Light-tank hunter?

This /\ in Mek armies. In footslogging just keep him more than 2" away from the closest enemy model and really if I desperately wanted him to kill tanks when not in a BW - I'd use the SAG over a Klaw. The psychological effect it has is just brutal... so are double sixes... I should keep track of what I've made go *poof!*

Dashofpepper, you devious bastard. I must try this.
