Chillicothe oh

I play Ultramarines as my main army. However now that I have that army pretty much complete(purchasing wise not painted) I'm in the process of buying bugs. Now there is my problem. Would it be considered disrespect, in your opinion, for a Ultramarine player to pick up bugs?

Maybe the players in your gaming group fear the Nids in your (veteran) hands?

Columbus, Oh

Or is it fluff based, as the Nids nigh on destroyed Macragge and thus they find it beyond ironic that the Ultramarines player is also aiding and abetting a Hive Fleet?

No worries. Let em giggle until you rend the flesh from their bones.

Not at all. You could start a chaos army if you wanted. My only concern is there is a huge tactics change required, as SM are fast, rapid-attack all-round force with small numbers of troops, while nids attack in massive, mostly slow-moving waves and specialise in close combat. But dont worry about disrespect and stuff like that, their only plastic. They wont kick you for it.

Generally when I bring out the nids I do win. However its just story. With any group who puts story into every fight, how can you put story into nids and UM when they never play eachother because the same player plays both armys?

Over the last 15+ years, I have played an army from every codex out there except Necrons and Daemons. If they don't have the intelligence and tactical acumen to be able to play more than opne army, that's their problem.

I can't believe you started 'Nids when you play Ultramarines! Why would you do that, WHERE DO YOUR LOYALTIES LIE.

All kidding aside, it's better for you to have extremes. All the better that both your armies are mortal enemies, means you can use extra bits to make some pretty cool models.

If it's a fluff nazi issue, tell them that you want to re-enact the Ultramarines' glorious victory against the evil hive fleet, then go collect whatever the feth army you want.

If anyone has a problem with it tell them you will gladly play any army they want to buy for you.

Playing opposite style armies like that can be fun and help make you better at the game. I would be surprised if anyone had a problem with it.

I play Orks, SW, DH, and Tau. They pretty much all hate each other. I think it's natural to want to branch out into new armies and the only way you could stay all buddy-buddy is if you went SM to IG or vice versa. Besides, now you can put the two armies on a shelf making the angry face at each other.

I'm just talkin' about Megaweapon.

Next time they start going on about it back slowly away, they are quite obviously mental.

Can I suggest skipping forward 10 years to the age where you don't really care about what people say on the internet. Studies show that it decreases your anger about life in general by 37%. - Flashman

I cannot see any problem with you doing this at all. Indeed I think being able to swap to something different for gaming, modelling and painting helps keep it all interesting. At the moment I'm working on nids, ultramarines, alpha legion and vostroyans and nobody in my group has any problem with that as far as I know. Anyone who would get upset about you doing that is clearly not well in the head.

It's really up to you. At one time I had both Grey Knights and Chaos Space marines. Just don't put them on the same shelf and all will be okay.

On a side note, it's always entertaining and challenging to play a new army that plays completely different.

My first army was Catachans, then I went to Space Marines. After them I went to Dark Eldar, bought the old Grey Knights for close combat support in my Guard. I then bought Sisters of Battle before the WH codex came out. Finished my GK army when the DH codex came out. I then collected Chaos Space marines, and added Lost and the Damned.

I gave away my 5000 point Slaanesh CSM army to a friend for doing car repairs for me. I then gave him my Lost and the Damned army for more car repairs. Oh well.

Sorry for the rant. The best thing to do is play what you want and enjoy the hobby.
