Hello fellow Dakkaites,

Tonight I visited my local GW and asked one of the red shirts what was happening with the price rises.
They told me that they were not informed of such a thing and believed that GW local management were not telling them of vital information. For example, vital information regarding the Australasian Golden Daemon winners and prizes etc.

With out this information regarding price rises, model release updates, withdrawal of GW products from the website(Daemon Hunter Codex) and hobby information will the ability of local GW's to bring in future hobbyists be damaged?????

P.S. Can anyone tell me how I can complain about the horrible manager at my local GW. To be frank he is quite useless at his job.

GW staff are always lowest on the totem pole when it comes to things like this - they get told when they need to know; basically when the time comes to implement the price rises instore. It's one of the reasons so many people turn to the internet for GW news and rumours because the GW stores are so ill-informed.

As to the complaint, I would assume that there is a GW Australia head office - at the very least, there should be a customer service address. I would direct your complaint there.

Check with the New Zealand one first.

I think that the only reshirts who have good data are the ones frequenting internet sites. They sure dont get it from Corporate, to my understanding.

You cannot hold it against them though, which is something I have found most gamers do. Is it the Red Shirt's fault they didn't tell them about removing product from the internet, or a possible price increase down the line, or what's coming out next?

No that's on GW coporate, so before filing complaints against employee's think if they have any control over it. Also consider why would they know anything other than what's in the store right then. GW tries to be so hush hush about things lately, most of the time GW employee's have better things to do other than tinker and find the newest rumors at home. If I was them I wouldn't be doing a lot of GW style theorizing or rumoring on my time off, i'd want a break from it.

Indeed, taking out on the redshirt for not being told is a load of BS. Think things through before you could ruin someone's career.

Considering the amount of peanuts GW retail staff are paid even at highest levels, ruining someone's career with them could be construed as a charitable act.

Indeed the GW staffers will be told when they need to know- but there are important reasons for that- generally you here all the gossip on the net as just that... gossip and rumours- the staff will find out when it is set in stone.
On top of that they have enough to worry about work wise- Customers to serve, showing new people how to play, keeping the store tidy and stocked up and planning events and things for the current stuff. So they don't really need to be worrying about October's releases right now do they?
Now we might all want to know whats going on that far in advance- but sadly we won't know for sure until closer til then.
The 8th Ed Warhammer rulebook is a great example- so many rumours, so many conflicting reports- and as soon as its time for it to be announced fully- we'll get the full correct lowdown

Yes but what if a newbie intending to purchase a box set or two arrives at the shop on the 1st June and is suddenly faced with these new price rises. Is there going to be some anger directed at the Employees or will they just be accepting of the fact.

I am sorry if I didnt make it clear the first time.

I wish to complain about the store manager as he is a very poor store manager. I do not wish to place the reasons for this as I fear for backlash from the wider community, but my fellow local gamers including staff agree that a complaint needs to be lodged.

Come on, you don't go to a gas station and yell at the cashier for the price change, why would you bother these guys for something so trivial?

Redshirts are working stiffs, give the guy or girl a break. They deserve your pity, if anything.


Want to change them into into a pal? Then keep them informed and go up and have a conversation with them. You then become one of the regulers, like becoming part of the inner circle of the shop, then you don't have to be a duce and look at someone whos trying to earn a couple of bucks with a job and doing thier own thing like a moron.

Just keep your mouth shut when they are trying to make a sale.

Redshirts or whatever they dress their monkeys up these days are the worst kind of uninformed in the business. We had them actively denying the existence of the Realm of Battle even when we were shown the scans of the Christmas gift folder. Same with the Valkyrie and the Guard codex. fething. Ignorant. "Those sites are wrong, our site is right" is what they say.
