So what happens after an ork is born/hatched/grows?

Do they just drag them self out of a hole and get straight into the fighting. Are they picked/harvested by a runt Herder who acts as a parent teaching them the ways of okydom before being sent out into the world?

Are orks all laid/spawned together in a group that grow as a family unit or spaced out all over the place?

Basically if you were going to right the Biography of an ork what would the first year look like?

Why am I asking? Well I am building an army with two Big Meks as the HQ choice, I plan on fluff being that they were Siamese twined orks joined at the hip sharing there legs > seperated by a Pain boy > rebuild their own bodys > start competeing with each other to build the most/biggest/shootest Dreads. I want to make their story up to the point they meet the Pain boy fit in with ork fluff as much as possible.

Orks go to the school of hard knocks

They basically emerge fully formed (if smaller than their battle hardened brothers - fighting makes them grow) with basic abilities hard wired in (some odd boys will have special knowledge or interests, like meks, pain boys, storm toopers, speed freaks etc).

Ork spores are given off wherever orks have been, so they are spread randomly around. The more orks there are, and the longer they are about, the more spores. I think your ork codex will have info on their life cycle.

And I suppose that your fluff seems possible - pretty cool actually

So they are just born and wander toward the largest source of waaagh energy.

No ork to greet them, or terminate the less then perfectly formed.

Have read both codex and Gorkamorka fluff, they cover most of the live cycle, how waaagh energy determines what the spore turn into, and all that DNA nonsense. But not what happens on day one when they emerge. (as far as I can tell)

I think my their story will be that a outcast painboy came across my mek/meks being "picked on" by other larger yooths on their way to join a waaagh, they kept building waggons to get there but the larger yooths kept stealing them so the mek/meks were going no where fast.

Seeing the potential in this young mek/meks he pick him/them up and took him/them away with him performed his surgery and they formed there own little Komunity.

Skip forward a few years and this group has got a little larger, they have a body guard of loyal Cyborg nobz, lots and lots of dreads and Kanz and huge mob of grot helpers. The Meks having been one ork originally have retained a special psychic link that makes them very good at what they do (after all two heads are better then one) They make their money and fulfil their lust for battle by hiring them self out the the highest bidder.

Now all I need is some names

I imagine that some ork clans will go out ans scout for new orks to round them up and form them into mobs.

For names you could have them being called Romuluz and Reemuz by the pain boy that found them.

Newborn orks form mobs called Wildboys. If I remember correctly, Bosses love finding these guys as a source of new recruits.

I think they simply try to survive: the philosophy of "adapt or die". If you want the first year of your ork, make it an incesant adventure, full of dangers, finishing with the "da first shoota!"

When orks were part marsupial and old orks went off into the wilderness to whelp there was always a group of old orks around to teach the yoofs the basics.

With the newer background replacing that I would say, since the mushrooms actively control what they grow, that several yoofs might emerge at the same time. Of course there will already be gretching, snotlings and squigs, without them present the mushrooms would not chose to grow the orks.

With that in mind, all orks wil almost certainly emerge into a fully formed, if small, community. In the older background the yoofs were a bit wild at the beginning, fighting and stealing good kit and it wasn't until they got a bit more mature that they got all serious. I imagine that small mobs of boisterous yoofs will emerge at the same time, easily capable and more than willing to boss around the grots and assert their dominance.

If they're on a hostile alien-occupied planet, or at least one that hasn't developed a proper Ork Kulture, then they'll probably grow up as Wildboyz. If growing up in the drops of a proper Ork world they'll join the local Stormboyz Korps, in order to sate their rabid urge to march in formation and polish their boots. Don't worry, they tend to grow out of it.

Only Stormboyz do. Sometimes a young Ork...Especially from a Military or Blood Axe Tribe will get sick of being told that they can do whatever they want when they are in that rebellious stage so they run off to boot camp for Orks and Join up with The Storm Boyz Military!

This Camp or School for Orks Provides Direction for the Young Orks Future and they are told what to do and when to do it instead of do whatever you want but if you follow me you get to smash some stuff.

Most likly if they where borne/sporned/what ever it is they do with there legs joined together, chaos would be involved, i think ...

When i see plague I pray to Mork...
When i see deformed people I get my slugga...
When i see happy people i shout Waaagh!...
