Greetings one and all! Since my post on the Swap and Shop Forum got people in trouble due to the debate that took place I decided to just ask the question here. Do you think that this Scratchbuilt Thunderhawk could sell for $200.

I posted a series of project updates for this specific Thunderhawk on a different forum, and you can read about how I made it, but due to the fact that I pretty much had everything for it lying around and a good friend of mine gave me all the GW bits, I was able to build it for a low price, but it still took me 10 to 15+ hours to build.

So, with that said, could a thunderhawk like this, be sold for $200?

Ignor the base, I made that in a hurry for a large APOC game I was getting ready for. I wouldn't provide a base if I sold it.

what materials did you make it out of?

After the orbital strikes, Thunderhawk bombardments, Whirlwinds, Vindicators, fusion and starfire and finally Battle Brothers with flamers had finished cleansing the world of all the enemies of Man, we built a monastery in the center of the largest, most radioactive impact crater. We named the planet "Tranquility", for it was very quiet now.

Could it be sold for $200? Sure. Will it? That's a much harder question. Things like this can be hard to be price.

I used a type of thin wood/press board. It is easy to cut, but very strong and can be shaped easily with an exaxto knife. Super glue works on it as well as wood glue.

I also used plasticard. There was no cardboard at all.

The Main Cannon is made out of a rubber tube that came from a dairy. Found it in a dumpster. :-)

The upper section of the hawk is made from a model tank kit... I also used it for the exhaust system behind the cockpit.

Does it match known size (length, wingspan, etc) compared to the current FW models?

It matches it fairly close I believe. You can see it in the APOC photos. I've never seen a FW model in person. I used some templates i got online, but they might have been a little big so I made some adjustments.

I'd buy one for 150 no problem... 200 makes me wince a little bit.

150 sounds better than 200.

This thread can't seem to find a home! One of those things that just falls between categories, I guess...

Personally, if the construction is solid I definitely think this could go for $200. There are a lot of people who might want a T-Hawk who can't come close to the forgeworld price, but could spring for this.

I personally wouldn't want to sell it for $200 if I'd made it, though! Unless you're got it down to a science using the templates... but with the other parts needed (the pod racer engines, the model tank parts, and the weapons) I don't think it's worth all of the effort.

That said, if you can scrape the parts together for under $100 (preferably $75 or $50...) you're turning a good profit material-wise. But for me, time is more valuable than money for something that requires that much effort, and I'd be in the camp looking to buy one rather than build it, if I played marines.

If you put an hour or two into a nice scenic base that would make a huge difference to the potential price~ Remeber presentation is everything, I'd consider painting the dowel a neutral/light blue or stone grey as well just to give it some polish

I think $200would be in the right ballpark rest is just sales
