Subject: Ork Kill Team - 200 points

So I'm not sure how many people are familiar with the kill team special mission in Battle Missions but it's essentially a tiny game you play with a super specialized "squad" It consists of 200 point games with no heavy support or HQ choices allowed.
Now, I have NO idea where to start with this, although I do think orks have a pretty unfair advantage, that is, that they have lots of special guys who aren't technically HQ like snikrot or zagstruk so I think one of them is a must. As far as the game goes, you have to take a leadership test with your highest ld value model once you get reduced to half of your model count so one of these guys is a must if you don't want to roll on a pitiful 7. That's a 7 even if you use nobz :(. Also, each MODEL can act independently and up to three models can get a special rule of your choice, such as a loota model getting the relentless special rule I guess.
Does anyone have any suggestions, or have they played this mission themselves?
It's not a serious game type but it's quick and fun and has the opportunity to be pretty strategic
Thanks a bunch!

the USR's are reeeaaallly handy. I gave a power weapon CSM Chosen Furious charge, and he was a marine killing machine. I gave another chosen Relentless and a Autocannon- he didn't need to move most of the game so that was a waste =\ but i did give relentless to a plasmagunner, and he loved running about spitting out death
a FNP nob would be scary fleet would also be good for an ork imo

I used Assault termies and gave one of my Th/SS preferred enemy. It guaranteed that he actually hit something, knowing my pitiful assault rolls.

I give an IG Lascannon Team relentless, it hides behind cover, pops out, and smokes someone.
Giving one of the Nobz FNP would work pretty well, I would think.

I've only played Kill Teams once and I just took 13 tankbustas. No vehicles, no Glory Hogs, and even at BS2, 13 rokkits being thrown around were good fun.

How do squads work though? it says units can act independently what does that pertain? Can the enemy target specific models individually?
Also, does anyone think Zagstruk would work with lots of stormyboyz i.e. 200 points worth? with all the terrain it might be helpful, plus his higher ld value and against Tau especially what with all their jump-shoot-jump shenanigans.

For orks, I would use a ton of deffkoptas.
Also, if you want some lols, get some gretchin, and give on fnp.

haha yea lols would indeed be plenty but in all seriousness I think stormboyz with zagstruk who has FNP or preferred enemy would be pretty hardcore in this game type. I also implore everyone to read what the rules of the game type are before you suggest something.
Although, since many fast attack are vehicles and fast attack are allowed tank hunter would be pretty sick too. Thanks for the advice dakka

theoretically, if you gave a nob in MA move through cover, would you get to roll three dice for his slow and purposeful? I mean.. it says to treat it like he is always moving through difficult terrain....

It's a 200 point game. Max of 2 troops, 1 fast attack, 1 elite. No minimum force org requirement. No HQ or Heavy Support allowed. No objectives. Every model in a unit can act like an IC. 3 Models can have any 1 USR. The thing is because it's 3 individual models the game tends to favor elite and expensive models. A Meganob or DeffCopta will gain more from FNP than a single grot. The only problem with lootas in only 3 members of the squad can take a USR, and you can probably pull better shenanigans by giving a single USR to 3 deffcoptas, nobs, meganobs, or nob bikers.
The scenario isn't perfect however, and a few things in the game completely break the scenario such as The Doom of Malan`Tai with Eternal Warrior, which is even nastier than it sounds at first because every single model acts as an independent unit and would thus need to make an independent check if within 6" during each shooting phase.
It's a really fun scenario, you should try it sometime.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

Holy crap.
A Doom of Malantai that kicks itself up to 10W and STR10 and regenerates wounds every turn based on what it kills....and can't be instant killed but has a 3++. Sounds like an instant win.
*EDIT* Does the doom call for a morale test or a leadership test? I'm curious to know if this affects fearless units.

Well, it's not a friendly game when some one runs Doom with Eternal Warrior, IMO.

You buy squads, but each man is treated as their own unit and can split their attacks and shots. So, if you have a big shoota with 3 shots, you can shoot three different targets.
Zagstrukk isn't a bad idea, being able to strike at Initiative, since you can't hide PK nobs in Kill Team. Give him Hit and Run so he can keep charging, LOL.

ok, so that's what I thought, and why a Nob with a pk isn't all too helpful, he can just be targeted individually.
Doom is just being a jerk honestly, and unless you've crafted some other sort of scenario to give the other person an advantage, poor sportsmanship.
Although coming from the guy who fields Ghaz at 1000 points I shouldn't talking.
Still, I can see how this game type can be a lot of fun and very strategic. We've set a board up with city features and lots of terrain and it's going to be very entertaining.

As it turns out, expensive models like Zagstruk turn into bullet magnets. Against Tau I was obliterated trying to use stormboyz...
Partly bad luck and partly the fact that they have a decent amount of range over me. Oh and I didn't realize you're not allowed to put ANYTHING in reserve...

Use more LoS blocking terrain... IMO it's mandatory esp. vs. a list that likes to castle on a single high tiered terrain piece.
It's supposed to be 80% terrain too... so jump packs need to be careful too. Automatically Appended Next Post: I saw this one Kill Team, All Lootas.
Nasty.
