I wanted to name my Chaos Daemon army and I have various ones that I've come up with but my friend says naming your legion is lame.

I was wondering what the general opinion was?

Please no "It's your hobby so get what you want out of it" posts simply because we've heard that before and I will most definetly name my legion anyway because I agree with that statement.

But, here I wanted to know what your personal opinion is on naming Daemonic legions.

It's the lamest thing on the planet. How dare daemons embodying different parts of the human psyche choose to name themselves, a human characteristic! LAME!\

Not. I think, if anything, a Daemon army would have too many names!

Second. Daemons in general fiction have a metric gakton of names.

So, you guys take the time to assemble, paint, and learn the absurdly complicated rules to play with little space soldiers. And he thinks giving your army a name is lame?

Why shouldn't a legion of daemons have a name? Space marine strike forces have names. Eldar craftworlds have names. CSM warbands have names. Tyranid hive fleets have names. Imperial guard regiments have names. Even gangs of Orks have names. There's really no reason why daemon legions wouldn't. Once again, the entire hobby is pretty lame to most people, so if you're gonna do it, you might as well get into it and not worry about that sort of nonsense.

There's just an acre of you fellas, isn't there?

How could naming an army of Daemons be lame?

I reckon if you dont name at least one of your models you are missing out on something.
Just dont cry when they die at the hands of the SM's

"...More Space Marines that you can poke a stick at..."

95% of teens would go into a panic attack if the jonas brothers were about to jump off the empire state building copy and paste this if you are the 5% who would pull up a lawn chair grab some popcorn and yell JUMP BITCHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then the Prophet spake:"Frak this, i'm going home."

"Revenge is a dish best served with mayonaise and those little cheesy things on sticks."

Demons have names, they just tend to be unpronounceable by mortal tongues in their pure form, and have to be transliterated. Knowing a demon's true name however tends to give you power over it, so demons have many pseudonyms.

Like good old Jzkljggggl, pronounced Juzikligal (silent j *cough*).

Oops, read the question as "Should I name my Daemon army?" and voted yes.

But anyway, go ahead, name your army.

Bugger it, despite seeing your post, so did I . I meant no.
@OP: It's a good plan, and it seems rude not to. The entire fething galaxy has been named, why should your daemons miss out?

Just name it after the daemon who's leading the incursion. My daemon army is Coprophagus' Tetragon, named after my Great Unclean One who has some unfortunate eating habits.

As long as the name is COOL (or Kewl) .. sure .. why the heck not?

I name all my armies, as it is a way of adding character and depth to the game.

Just don't name it Bob's Legion.

Seconded.

I feel usually on the "leader"(hq) should have names in a daemon army and you should name it after them. I feel every time a daemon armie manifests all the little guys are random they change everythime because their are so many but the heralds and greaters they are strong enough to push things out of the way and jump on the manifestation bandwagon

"Lets get Dangerous."

I vote for Bob's Legion, if you want to make a more specific poll.

I do believe this thread ended with this post.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

Just to build on that, the Daemon player should also decide on appropriate names for the enemy army, like "Snack Time in Boxes" for a mechanized force, but be prepared to be referred to by things such as "Incident 3 598.M41".
