Subject: Modeling a whipping chain?

Hey Dakka, I was working on my Cannoness and was wondering how I'd go about modeling a chain onto her to make it look like it was whipping about. Something like this:
...Something like that. I want it to look like she's whipping the chain around. Maybe with some fire at the end of it. I have a small enough chain to make this work, I just don't know how to go about it. Bend it into the right shape and prime it? Cover it in superglue? Both sound like bad ideas... Suggestions?

I would go about this by using green stuff , the GW website has some beginner tutorials on green stuff which includes making chain if im correct , if you really want to avoid using green stuff you could try looking for some on the chaos tank sprues and modelling it into place.
Hope this helps ~UnDeAd~

Buy some fishing wire and blue tac where you want then gs the chain's and undo the blue tac and it (should) stay there and it works really well, thats what I did for my old necron's flayed ones; It's effective, Its helpful, its really fun the make and most of all IT LOOKS FABULOUS! Automatically Appended Next Post: And also that looks really goos so far I'd like to see this thread into a blog battle brother ^_^

The Ork Biker Kit has an arm with a chain whipping around. You could always snip the chain off at the top of the hand and attach it to the model or use it as a basis for GS work.

Use thin bendable wire as a frame, and then sculpt the chain with a modelling medium?

Ah, thanks guys! I didn't think of GS, though I'd prefer to use some real chain, for that authentic look. Still, thanks! I was thinking of maybe making a blog post, actually. Eheh.
A friend recommended covering a chain in superglue and letting it dry in the right shape somehow? What about that?

Could work but it would be very prone to breaking, if you want to use a real chain, try interlinking a thin stiff wire, then bend to the shape you want

Use real chain then. Itll take awhile but chain super glues very easily and stays in place rather well. Id suggest using wire to figure out how you want to chain to look on the mini, and then lay it on your table and start the tedious task of putting a small drop of super glue on every single link. I did it on the first CSM dred I made years ago.
Good luck

Arright guys, thanks. Looks like mainly what I'll need is patience! Heheh. Those Reaper chains look GOOD, however. Might try those if I fail too hard on this. Pics and maybe a WIP blog soon!
