I see a lot of complaints on this board and others about releasing an =I= codex that will get rid of inquisitor and mystic allies. So I bought into the tears and played a few games of inq + mystics against a deepstriking BA army. Long story short I either rolled under the 4d6, whiffed, or did not do damage to the deepstrikers 100% of the time. It didn't deter my opponent from dropping several squads of troops directly onto my face.

My question is then, what is the real use of this loadout? Is it worth the points even? It bums me out because winning a game for IG is often credited to the 'stupid DH ally system'

Anyway, /rant off, what do you all think?

I wouldn't worry about it. This unit isn't going to exist in a few months time.

So I keep hearing. Most people think this is a big deal, and I just wanna know why. They have been nothing but a waste of points when I use them.

Because it allows you to attack Deep Striking units easily and for free without 'using up' your shooting phase. It's a good way to disrupt armies that rely heavily on Deep Striking (Drop Pod and Daemons armies).

Do you see it as so out of balance when used with the IG codex that it needed to be 'fixed' out of the DH update? It just seems like a nifty gimmick to me, not a real game changer. What it boiled down to for me was for my opponent to deepstrike his Dread 7" from my melta guardsmen instead of 6".

What were you shooting at them with? If you were doing it rigt then they'll be parked next to a battery of medusas or a pair of executioners. 10 plasma cannon shots will ruin anyone's day.

eta- it's not that great against deepstriking jumppackers as they can deploy 18"+ away. Where it shines is against deepstriking melta units.
