Ive noticed this ridiculous trend of giving towns trendy slogans, so my question is, whats the worst one you have heard?

You know, i saw loads when i was living in the USA, like NY getting called "The Big Apple" and LA "The City of Angels" so im presuming its another corny American thing.. least i blamed you guys when my (American) Girlfriend saw the new addition to my town (See below!)

You guys know what i mean though... that kinda sucky line thats written under your town sign as you drive in..

Reason i ask, i was cycling last week with my missus and she laughed when she saw this one...

Middlesbrough, slighty less messy than the last time you came

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

The slogan the Sheffield city council website provides is "Where everyone matters". Cynic-bait aplenty!

Hah.. thats a good one, i like the Middlesbrough one though, its like saying "Ok its a dump, but its getting better, honest!"

This is ours

no slogan as such, for which I'm glad. Although I do have a few suggestions which are probably not suitable for this site

We do however have this, which is pretty awesome!

Its gak fact time!

Those arent mushrooms on the sign, it is a simple depiction of the "famous" Transporter Bridge!

One of only 8 in the world, and the only one still in active use. In December 1993, the bridge was awarded the Institution of Mechanical Engineers' highest honour, The Heritage Plaque, for engineering excellence, in recognition of the Council's efforts in keeping the bridge in good working order. Its historical importance was also recognised in 1985 by its listing as a Grade II Listed Building.

It has featured in films and TV programmes including Billy Elliot, The Fast Show, Spender and Steel River Blues. In the millennium celebrations of 2000, fireworks were fired from its length. The storyline of the third series of Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, saw the bridge dismantled to be sold to and re-erected in the USA. The local council received calls from people worried that the bridge was really being pulled down, with the BBC adding a disclaimer on the end of the final episode of the series stating that 'The Transporter Bridge remains in Middlesbrough'

I quite like this one.
It's a local town (well, about an hour away in the same region).

They do have two cemeteries and no hospital. It was put up in response to a series of fatal road accidents years ago.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

I don't live there, but Oxford has "The city of dreaming spire's".
Huh. "City of bleedin' fires" more like.

Actually, Middlesbrough's real town motto is 'Erimus', which means 'we shall be'. Has been for many years. Kind of cool that it's aspirational, but I'd prefer 'we already are'!

I almost always agree with Albatross, I can't see why anyone wouldn't.

Okay, so the male version of "Cougar" is now officially "Albatross".

I know that but I'm just making sure everyone knew that it's safe in Tisdale. Besides this is Canada what could possibly be wrong with Canada.
