Yep, did it. Didn't have the pieces to make the eviscerator, so I just gave him a really freaking big axe. This is my second major conversion, and my first conversion that involved cutting and plasticard. I'm sure he'll look better once he's primed.

UPDATE: Here he is half painted. Photo isn't too good, but gives a general idea of what I'm going for. My first model that uses extensive blending.

It looks really nice. The only complaint I have is the weapon. Not only does it looks like it weighs more than he does (his difficulty hefting it is confirmed by the way the model is holding it), but it breaks the base rule. The weapon is so low that it breaks the plane of the base (so it's technically dragging it in the dirt), but it also sticks way off the base so as to make it a nightmare to actually play with it (seriously, the first close combat you get into, and realise that you have to have him facing backwards to actually fit in base-to-base will start the regrets pouring in).

Now I know that there's not a WHOLE lot you can do, given that it's a metal model, but cutting it down so that he's holding onto the axe just below the head, and having the handle stick out behind his cloak would make it look much better (or giving him a smaller weapon).

He's got the attitude, and you've got a good vision. I mean, he does look pretty badass. Just fix up the unrealisticness of the weapon and he's absolutely good to go.

I noticed that when I finally put the giant axe on. Overall, that's the one part I'm really not too happy with. It was just so much trouble to put together. I wanted to have him holding it back further, but the hilt guard only went so far before hitting metal, and making it any shorter would make it look like a one-handed weapon (which it certainly isn't). The size thing is intentional though. It's an eviscerator, it's supposed to be able to crush its way through even a landraider's hull. Which is also why he carries a normal-sized sword on his shoulder--you can't expect to swing that thing around 24-7. Fluff wise, the sword would be his primary weapon, with the more iconic axe only being used to take on very large targets, like daemon princes or tanks. Of course, gamewise, you can only take two weapons in the Daemonhunters codex, and since he'll already be loaded up with a multi-melta (one of the reasons why I considered Helbrecht as the base), his sword is for decoration only.

I may end up doing some final modifications to it before I prime, but the axe has been a huge source of frustration already, and depending on how I feel tomorrow, what you're looking at now may or may not be the final model.

There's a base rule about that? GW doesn't seem to know this(see the original LE Emperor's Champion holding the sword in front of him and Bloodcrushers, both of which over hang their bases to the point of not being able to have opponents in front of them).

Testor's super glue. Sure, I would never touch their paints when it comes to minis, but their glue works great. And they even include a pin with to poke open when it eventually (and repeatedly) seals shut.

I like the model, big ass axe and all. but I have one question for ya.

Does your bad-ass Inquisitor Lord have a mullet?

But even if you swap the axe to a proper eviscerator it'd still stick way the hell out there. It might not be in the way as much since it'd be a sword and not the axe, but it'd still be in the way.

But when converting a guy like this make him so you're happy with how he looks. Because if after days of working on the guy and then painting him. If you're not happy the whole thing will feel like a waste.
You can deal with any other problem later.

That axe is cartoonishly out of proportion. He also looks a bit too busy with all that crap on his shoulders. However, it's seldom I see a conversion based on Helbrecht, and he might come together a bit better once he's painted. Keep at it.

No, that's just the mane of a greater daemon worn around the back of his neck.

I was going to say something about the axe, but you already know all about it. In all seriousness, though, this is cool. This inquisitor is armed for BEAR! The conversion work is really good, and the paintjob isn't bad. I do have one small comment: the Inquisitorial symbol. Did you freehand that? If so, the bottom right arm of the 'I' is a little too long (at least it looks that way in the photos). This will be dynamite when it's finished.

It's freehanded. Well, no pics today, but I'm almost done, just need to do the axe. I'm going to take a small break until I figure out exactly what colours to paint it...

Although he's already had his first go on the table, and in one game, he managed to kill 2 Dreadnaughts, 2 Drop pods, and a Space Marine Captain. Certainly did well on his first battle, although I'm wondering how his luck will hold out.
