I posted a couple of things in the P&M section last year but i never made much progress due to family matters and some added disruption caused by building work. Having used my army (or unpainted mass of disorganised IG) a bit since Planetstrike was released, with varying levels of success, I have decided to make more of an effort to get them into fighting shape.

As life has a habit of waylaying any plans, this is likely to be a slow burner which will also be sidetracked by my lack of concentration as I find something new to play around with. It has already happened as I set out to paint my 3 tanks (including a rare recent purchase of a Demolisher kit) and after undercoating them, I found that the paints I wanted to use had dried up due to age and lack of attention.

I want to get a few things built, converted and painted before I move on to painting up the infantry (which are sadly lacking in numbers). One of them is to finally finish the Chimera with scratchbuilt turret I started in P&M last year and I have actually made a bit of progress on that when I couldn't spray things (see the pics below). I am going to grab some more paint tomorrow and then try my hand at basic airbrushing on the tanks (when time allows).

My other aim for the immediate future is to make my own Pask as I cannot stand the GW model. I have made a start today but I am treating this as a learning experience with GS, so it may be the first of many attempts. I have been blown away by a lot of the work posted here on Dakka and many of the tips will prove themselves invaluable to me. Whatwhat's tutorials are a fantastic starting point, so I hope I can achieve something even a fraction as good.

Pask so far. I am basing him on the picture in the Codex so it may take me a while to get right.

I intend to create a fairly standard Cadian army with some personal touches (and borrowed ideas where they fit) and paint it to a decent tabletop level. If I try to go beyond that I may never get around to finishing anything and I would like to actually have a fully painted 2000 point army for the first time since I have been playing 40k.

Edit: Just to add that the Demolisher is fully magnetised so I can swap the weapons and know they will stay there and also the turret hatch is hinged so I can use Pask in it or one of the new LR kits (when I can eventually get one).

Pacing myself won't be an issue, getting any time to spend on them is always the challenge

On the plus side I managed to get some replacement paints and a large can of airbrush propellant (if I get on with the airbrush I will look to getting a compressor when i can).

I hope to work on Pask along side painting the tanks so I will hopefully post up some updates in the next few days. I would have done some tonight but the light level has dropped (the sky has gone a rain-filled grey) and I haven't got a power lead that will reach my desk at the mo.

The WD dropped through my letterbox today so that will give me some nice Spearhead related inspiration.

Just a small update as I haven't managed to get much done. In a few spare moments I have been adding to Pask. It is still very rough and I haven't tried GSing like this before (please ignore little bits of shaved plastic and GS, I didn't see them until I had a nice enlarged pic on the screen).

The arms are a little bare so I wanted to add some cuffs like the Cadian officer arms on the HQ sprue. I am pleased with the general shape and edge detail but I think it's too big for the arm. I would love to hear opinions and feedback on this.

After I have the cuffs sorted out I will try and make his cape like it is in the Codex pic (coming over his right shoulder and clasped by a small rectangular badge/seal). I also need to make him a new pointing finger as I managed to snap it off and lose it the carpet pile. The big grey mass in his left hand is the map/document holding hand from the Cadian HQ box. I had to pin it to a suitable arm but leave a gap to give a better proportion to the limb. The gap has been GS'ed and will be covered by the cuff anyway.

Thanks. I have played around with it before but only as a filler/bonding medium. I definitely need to find out what point in the curing process is best for different levels of sculpting and shaping.

I suspect i may getter better results with fine detail when it has firmed slightly. I will have to re-read some of the great Dakka articles on this.

I want to get my enough skill to make a unit of Vets with carapace armour at some point.
