Hi folks, need to pick a few brains here. I have come across a Space Marine Board game (epic). Missing a bunch pieces, there is about 100 or so. I Googled it, and cannot come up with the right edition. Anyone have any memories of this game?

That's the initial Epic miniature game.

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1

I keep coming across a different picture when I Google it, one that states it is the 1st edition. This one has about 100 pieces, so I think it is missing about 200 or so pieces! Plus wear and tear....I dunno if it is worth the 5 bucks!! I am cheap.

Found it on lexicanum! Thanx for your input though. Originally had 560some pieces.......ouch missing Bunches!

If you're interested, I have a partial set someone gave me with a Necromunda box I bought I really have no use for. I don't remember what's in it, but it's got a bunch of the Space Marine stuff still on sprues.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.
Play the games that make you happy.

That looks like Space Marine 2nd Edition, otherwise known as Epic before Jervis Jervisified it and made it into 'Epic 40,000', which was a huge flop.

SM 2nd Ed was a good game. Was followed up with Titan Legions.

SPACE MARINE and TITAN LEGIONS remain, to this day, some of my all time favorite GW games.

They were just so much fun...

40K was really meant to be played on THAT scale!

H.B.M.C. got it right. Thats the second edition. I had tht one with all of the great stuff in it. Had enough to play with some great sized armies, and the box actually had a little meat in there with the armies.

I miss that Ork and Squad add on with the squat land train and all of those crazy ork vehicles.

Those were the days, alright. Great games that actually didn't take long to learn and you could get serious games going without breaking the bank.

Hmm, pretty cool. Thanks for all the flavor folks. If the lady has not sold it yet I will pick it up tomorrow I think. I mean for 5 bucks I can't go wrong? May be nearly 1 full army left I dunno. Nearly 19 or so years old, lucky there is 100 pieces left at all.

I loved the 'old' Epic. After Titan Legions, it all went downhill.

If you can keep your head, while all about you are losing their's, then you have probably completely misunderstood the situation!

Even if it has no minis, old Epic minis can be picked up really cheap on eBay

Yahh.. I used to play this game.. "2'nd ed Spacemarine" as mentioned above. It came with a small force of Spacemarines , Orks and Eldar, some cardboard buildings, and a Warlord titan if I recall correctly.
I had an Eldar force... loved the game, after Bloodbowl and Spacehulk this is probably the GW game I have played the most.. I say go for it

Was it Jervisified or did Chambers Chamberize it? I always thought Epic 40k was Andy Chambers venting his anger at his receding hair line on the Epic community.

Great game. Great box (last place you could get a 'beetleback' Warlord Titan.

If you don't have it; buy it. It's a collectors item at this point.

Yes.

That.

I would be all over Epic if it came back. Maybe I should just buy a few armies on ebay and start lending them.

I'd be all over Epic if they went back to the pre Epic 40k rules and prices, but use current miniature styles.

I used to love reading the Epic battle reports in WD in the early 90's and draming of having a squat stronghold force.
