I need opinions on this. The new one is good for general tyranid armies, but the older one had a carnifex, which is appealing to lots of people (whether they need the bits, or use carnifexes or whatever).

After long,hard contemplation,I like both equally. They both have their perks. Having more models is great, but having a nice centerpiece like a carnifex is nice too. I couldn't decide

Last editions. The current version is just plain squishy.

When I wanted to start a new army I liked the idea of lots of horde running up the board. Then I saw the bug box and dove into the Hive Mind. For some reason I just don't like the fex so while I am a new player I like using all the squishies in this box.

As the Carnifex was last edition, the old box.

Yeah, I bought the old battleforce... but then sh*t happened and they all died horribbly :/

The current one is just fail. Infact, the only real reason to buy the old battleforce was because it saved you about £20 like the rest of the battleforces, but even then one on its own wasn't enough to play a proper game with 'nids, even more so now. With the current 'dex, neither would be good alone. But the last one wins hands down.

The old one FTW. The new one, I might get.

Either you get no HQ, or you convert a warrior to s prime, and lack enough warriors to make a troops choice, iirc.

I like the new one.
The old one was more useful to bolstering an existing army, as it had less troops and the Fex.
The new one gives you a better foundation to build a new army on. Im planning on getting the new Battleforce, then a Warrior brood, and turning one of the warriors into a prime so I have 1 HQ and 5 warriors as an Elite. Then maybe a Fex. Or some Zoans.

But carnifexes aren't HQ choices....come to think of it,very few (if any) battleforces have HQ choices..so why would that matter?

He's saying you either take your warriors as a troops unit and have no HQ, or you make one a Prime, hence giving you a HQ, but not enough warriors to make a Warrior squad.

I really like the new Battleforce. In fact I have just ordered 2 of them to start my nid army.

To me, troops are what wins in 40k, so having 5 troop choices in a box is brilliant.

A fex is just something you can tack on to your army at a later date to give it more punch but in the new codex they seem too limited.

I picked up two of the new ones when I started my nid army. It was great to flesh out the basics. Of course I went overboard and got 3 fex, a trygon and mawloc, hive tyrant, ravenors, and the new gargoyles. Come to think of it I don't want either...I want a MC boxed set!! Come on GW, show some love.

That's a pretty built army to start off with!!

I've got a trygon right now,and I've got to say,it's the main reason I'm playing Tyranids. All I've got is some genestealers and alike 15 guants,but who cares? Nids are awesome.

I play Tyranids, and don't particularly like either. Under the previous codex, the old one was a very good buy, now it is not so great due to Carnifex points cost.

The new one lacks strength. It has troops, yes, but that's it. Other boxes generally come with some more powerful units, but the Tyranid box is just filler. It can't make an army on it's own, but is a decent expansion.
