So, it took the Ogryn a while to get a new sculpt and it seems like the scale creep in that time was pretty big. These are minis painted for a client (the white stripe on the smaller ogryn's helmet is to indicate that he is a 'white stripe' green conscript).

But, yeah. They really aren't the same size at all.

edit: does the pic work now?

The picture is broken. You might want to fix it

yeah, no picture, but one isn't strictly speaking needed. Ogryn have gotten MUCH larger since their original incarnation as basically buff guardsmen. They're not the only large model that's gotten larger (cf. terminators). You know they're getting bigger once they start requiring larger bases.

Ok, the pic should be working now. Sorry about that.

Not only is the size difference fairly impressive, but the re-imagining of the Ogryn physic is pretty extreme. The older models barely look like they came from humans while the newer models definitely fit with the fluff of human descendants altered over many millenia.

Still, I do like the cartoony look of the older Ogryn and the one pictured is the idiot kid brother in my Ogryn squad.

Did they make the Ogryn compatible with the Fantasy Ogres?

Not quite. Back in the Rogue Trader days, it went the other way around (Fantasy Ogres were playable as Ogryn). But by the time these guys were released, they had quite making a lot of their cross over stuff (where you could have a bolter as a magic weapon in WFB).

However, this mini follows that split by a couple years, so it isn't so surprising that they made them look like the fantasy ogres of the day.
