I've got a hankerin' for some anti-grav mech eldar. So I started an army

I plan on mech eldar goodness: Fire Dragons, minimal Dire Avengers, plenty of grav tanks and skimmers.

Basically want to make 'em pretty as possible, with a variant on Saim-Hann red, without the decals.

Here's a WIP Vyper.

Basic techniques: Mechrite Red over black primer, black wash, speckled with various shades of red with Baal Red to blend. Add highlights + freehand.

I'll try to post updates here as well as my minis blog.

Dude...that paintjob is awesome. Those black lines with the symbols in them and the model really have that 2nd edition feel to them, which really kicks ass. But the colours and stuff have a more updated look! It looks like how the 2nd edition stuff should have looked like!

By the way, what is that model in your avatar?

My avatar pic is a Cthulhu statue. I painted one of the large tokens from the Call of Cthulhu LCG / "Bag of Cthulhus."

Damn, both the Vyper and Falcon are stunning! The multi-toned red is excellent and your freehand is fantastic, that Eldar Glyph on the Falcon's Left wing in particular is really impressive, as well as the tiny little ones on the black stripes, which are also immaculately done.
Really nice painting here.

Thanks to those following and commenting on this thread.

I've been busy with other things, but still making progress on ~ 2000 points of Eldar.

Some diversions: the Space Marine statue from the Honoured Imperium set.

I played my first games with the Eldar, despite many of the tanks only being base coated and stippled.

Fun though -- the second (2000-point) game really showed the power of the warhost.

Very very nice.

The reds are nicely done, especially on the vyper, the large flat areas on the Falcon look good too, but it´s very different from what most people do.

Which isn´t bad at all, but it does confuse the eyes at first.

Nice beginning, I think this will look really impressive as an army.
