So here's a silly brain teaser just for fun...

Two players show up at a tournament both with loaded dice that only come up 6.

Neither can call the other on it without being thrown out of the tournment as well so they decide to play.

What would be the most competitive army in that situation?
And what could beat it?

My thought is Deathwing would be almost invincible because they are fearless and have a 5+ invulnerable. Psychic powers would never work in a game like this since you'd always get pierls of the warp.

Can anything beat them?

The only forces that could conceivably beat that are Necrons or either =][= army, since they both have access to C'tan Phase Swords which ignore Invulnerable saves.

Or, much more unlikely - bring enough tanks and try to tank shock everyone off the table. Or at least, off the objectives.

Um... they would never even get the game started, as they would just have a continuous string of roll-offs for the tie to see who goes first...

In the event that someone conceded the tie, whoever goes first wins.

The best solution: "BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD" and punch the other guy in the face.

You'll still probably get kicked out, but you can at least claim you "Seized the Initiative".

Good point... unless someone brings the Emperor's Tarot in which case he goes second since you'll have to roll doubles

I'm going to have to go with Necrons.

If the game gets started, the Deceiver will always make his 4+ invulnerable saves, and bypass all saves, eventually killing everything in an enemy army. Add a destroyer lord with a warscythe (rez orb, phylactory too)

Guard with tons of indirect fire support. Its enough to get through the basic saves of the necrons and if fired barrage, it causes a pinning check. Since all LD checks will be failed, the opponent can spend the whole game pinned.

As for the C-tan well he can try to chew through an IG blob, it might take a while thus effectively taking him out of the game.

I think a daemons army would be scary. Rolling 6s would mean that they would always pass their EW 5+ inv save and come from reserves early. There is also alot of scarey stuff in the book that would do a lot of damage(bloodcrushers, Greater Daemons, Flamers)

If you have a C'tan on one side and Grey Knights with Psycannons on the other you'd almost have a game.

The Necrons would come back every time, the C'Tan and the psycannons could actually hurt each other.

A guard player with lots of conscripts and send in the next wave MIGHT stand a chance. Sure, the conscripts can't do any damage to the deathwing (although seeing 50 conscripts score 150 wounds a turn would be loltastic), on a capture and control mission they may be able to throw so many bodies in the way that the deathwing couldn't possibly actually get a model within 3" of the guard player's objective. Likewise for seize ground. I mean, there would be so many bodies that deathwing could literally only move 1" a turn. Throw in a few melta SWS's to prevent tank shock and the guard player would be able to force a draw in 2/3ds of the games and maybe even win a size ground a couple of times.

But won't they autorun the first time they lose assault?

Of course the DW can't follow, but the guard will never rally.

You could not use this tactic as they would fail their morale test and flee as soon as the tank shock hit them(2 loaded 6s = auto fail LD test).

Your whole army would be tank shocked off the table turn 2.

SW with Marks of the wolfen in every squad, 4 Mark Battle leaders, 3 Mark Lone wolves, etc could do well; 7 auto wounding(to everything) FNP/Armor save ignoring attacks/ marked model would be awesome. Add in many Assaultcannons for the same rending goodness in shooting.

Alternatively a Genestealer swarm

I thought of another idea: Gunline orks.

Normally orks have more Dakka to make up for their terrible accuracy. With rolling 6s, orks would able to make every shot and thus rock the battlefield.

Tzeentch daemon army.

Can't tank shock them (they are fearless)

Boon of mutation would kill anything that needs killing (no saves)

Can't kill them (invul save)

that wouldn't beat the OP's army as at best you would tie up one squad with yarrick. the only way to beat them is to find a way to IGNORE invulnerable saves while still not allowing armor saves.

As as been said, Tzeentch Daemons win. Boon of Mutation Autokills anything, In vulnerable saves mean they aren't gonna die anytime soon. Maybe Throw in some Bloodcrushers in case the enbemy has Psycannons. C'tan Phase swords would be gone pretty quick with 17 models instantly dieing every turn. Horrors nuke everything without a 3+ save first turn.

That's what I thought too, first, but then I realized that it'd make them scatter 10 inches every turn. Of course, if you've loaded the scatter dice...

The moral of the story seems to be always bring 2 dice loaded to always come up 1 for Leadership tests in addition to the ones that always come up 6.
(can roll one of each for psychic tests to always get 7, but you are still screwed with runes of warding and shadow of the warp)

Can't believe that this thread is still alive. =p

Also can't believe that people keep posting daemon lists. You can bypass invulnerable saves.
