So I ordered 14 new paints this week, on Monday, and being on the West Coast I was surprised to see that they had arrived today!

However I did have an unpleasant surprise in store for me, the paints had been tossed into a plastic baggy and then shipped in a box containing mostly empty space. So one one of the bleached bone and one of my elf flesh broke open and spilled all over the inside to the bag. I called customer support and they were more than happy to send my the order of paints over again, saying and I paraphrase: "These things happen, from time to time."

I am overall happy with the entire affair, however I am a bit wary as to ordering Models as of now. Has anyone else had this issue?

Also I apologize if this is the wrong forum, or an old gripe, I did a quick search and determined that painting and modeling was the best place.

I've ordered things like blisters from them, and they've always arrived in a small box stuffed full of packing peanuts. Never had any problems.

Heh, maybe it was a fluke. I just haven't ordered in 2 years, so I was unsure if the S&H got all lousy of late.

I ordered bunch of badablack wash , they were all toss into a bag and into a box too -_-

I've heard horror stories of H&S problems. Every story, however, has ended with GW people being really apologetic on the phone and sending them a new whatever post-haste.

As well, they generally don't ask for the damaged product back, especially if it's a factory defect, so you get to keep whatever is broken to use for bitz, terrain, etc. Not so useful with paint, but still...

Their models are usually in great shape. I've never ordered paints from GW, but from what I hear their packing isn't as good. However, Warstore sells them, and at a 20% discount, as they do with all their GW stuff. Their packing has always been satisfactory in my experience, so I'd try them in the future!

Yeah they were super cool and let me keep my odd pre-mixed new terrain ready paint sets!

I've never ordered paints from GW mail order.

I've done it from a local indy e-tailer and the paints arrived in their little GW shipping box (void filled with peanuts) inside a larger box that had a Trukk kit in it.

The paints had been sealed with tape as well.

After hearing your tale, I'm quite glad I don't buy paints from GW (directly).

Maelstrom Games always wraps sticky tape around paints that are sent to me for some extra protection.
Almost 2 years, prbably 60 paints bought, not one opened in the box.

I have ordered stuff from GW and had nothing but good things to say about it.

Although I did order some bases a few months ago and I received 2 of the 2'x2' sections of the "Citadel Realms of battle Gameboard extensions".

I called to try to see what was going on and was told to just keep them and then they shipped out the correct order asap.

When GW makes a mistake they seem to go that extra mile to make it right.

For all the terrible things that are said about GW, they take making sure you get what you overpaid for seriously. I've never had a shipping issue. I've never actually had a major casting issue I can think of other than the "SM backpack with the hole in them" issue, but that's fixable with a purity seal or green stuff, so it's hardly a problem worth calling over. Never ordered paints though. I've always been on a "get the color because I just ran out" kind of person and pick it up from the FLGS on the way home from work.

Its a lot easier and safer to just go instore to get paints, its cheaper as well and quicker.

I can wait a few days for paint, as long as the shipping is good. Between working two jobs, one where I am a consultant I don't want to spend my free time driving to my local store, which is too far away and full of DnD and Vampire LARP nerds. I am glad to hear that my experience is not that uncommon and I agree that GW customer care is supreme.

I will look into some of these other distributors though.

Games workshop usually has free shipping on orders $15 and up pretty often so i'll gladly overlook the problem with paint. A lot of the time the paint comes in a bag, unless you order some models with it. I bought a chaplain and some paint online and it came nicely packaged in foam peanuts.

I've never ordered paints from GW, but something I've noticed is that they ship all the bits in a box that's way too big. Now, for the Dragon Wings and jump packs I can understand the box size, but using the same size box for just an order of Meltaguns? That's a waste of a box.

Anyone else noticed this?

Ive yet to have a problem with open paints, but i do find the box's are mainly empty space.


Not due to boxing, but just got a LOC turn up, and pretty much every part on it has been bent.
So spent a few hours bending it back so it actually stands up and fits together right.

I sell enough crap on Ebay that I am happy with getting odd sized or boxes that are too big.

The problem is resolved however I should be getting my replacement paints Tuesday.

True but they probably got a massive bulk deal on one type of box which is much cheaper even with the possible postage increase.
