The madness of being addicted to 40k. I have been playing for about 6 months. My apologies for the terribly huge pics I uploaded but placing the "pipe" in the filename isnt as easy as it is made out to be. I see it on my keyboard, but its not working.

I play Imperial Guard Vostroyans, I currently have 3000 points painted and am constantly expanding. My fast attack has been lacking so I recently built some armored sentinels ( after the pics were taken ) and am working on more basilisks , leman russes. chimeras. I have a third Hydra Flak tank that I have yet to paint. I am working on the goal of having at least 3 of every major type of vehicle in the Imperial Guard Codex, and im about halfway there. I have so far completed 3 each of Armored Sentinel , Leman Russ and Basilisk, 2 of Chimera, and Hydra Flak , and have the unbuilt kits for the 3rd of those two vehicles. I have built one Valkrie . I have only to obtain 2 valkries, 3 hellhounds, 3 manticores and 3 deathstrikes to have a full range of vehicle options for any moderately sized game. I have one Baneblade already built, but I will also buy at least one shadowsword in the very near future because one super heavy just isnt enough im my opinion, even for a very basic Apocalypse game.

I am scrambling to buy all of the Vostroyan miniatures that I can before they are not available as I understand they are not being made anymore. Already flamers are apparently sold out. Im glad I managed to get 6 of them before that happened. My only hope for more flamers may be in trade. So far I also have 4 snipers, 6 plasma guns, 3 grenade launchers, and 2 heavy bolter teams. I have enough guardsmen with lasguns to fill out 6 squads. I have one company command squad, and one platoon command squad that I pieced together with individual figures from various sets. Its too bad that the only way to get Vostroyan medics and vox casters is to buy a whole company command squad for each one you need. So far I am running 3 vet squads and one platoon made up of 3 infantry squads. I could run up to 3 more additional squads but they are but lowly Cadians whom the pompous Vostroyans would disdain to fight alongside....must get more Vostroyans before they are gone! I would love to have my troops maxed out with 4 vet squads and 2 platoons of 5 squads each with a few heavy and special weapons teams thrown in. To have them all be Vostroyan is what I'm hoping for. About 200 or so Vostroyans altogether. If I cant get enough Vostroyans, I may settle for running either Mordians or Death Corps of Krieg as my vet squads, as they are both apropriately ornate. When I have the troops numbers I want, I will concern myself with Ogryns, Psykers and the like.

I say when in doubt about what to run in an army list, build it all and have every option under the sun available to plug and play..according to the situation. That is the focus of my basic "3 of everything" army. I can use it for Apocalypse , but the main goal is to have any option for a regular game available.

I started building my army last December and I hope to have these "basic" stages of my Army complete by the end of this year. Next year the goal will be to build up to big league Apocalypse levels, with entire 9 vehicle companies of Leman Russ (and variants) as well as Basilisk ( and variants) and Hydra flak (for dealing with those annoying friends of mine who insist on using airpower) and I know I need many more super heavies and at least one Reaver titan. I am also building a force of Blood Angels to go with my IG for Apocalypse and to give me another army option in regular games . I have 2000 points of BA's purchased and am starting to build those models now, along with the IG. So yea, six months into it Im already in pretty deep with well over 5000 points between 2 armies that I already own. My entire entertainment budget and half the grocery money are getting sucked up by this game but I am loving it. Who needs to go out to eat, out to the bar, on vacation , or on a date? I think I've lost my mind.


Yes , there are people all around me who can play on that level. The maniac buddies of mine that got me into this game already have armies like this!
