So,

CommisarKhaine inspired me with his double rotor Deffkopta, so I had to build my own. I took two AoBR Kopta's and cut the rotors off. I then cut and removed the section located behind the pilot's seat and built up a triangular shape of green stuff so that the rotors would be angled properly.

Thankfully, the rotors have belts on the side and a beam at the top, which made insuring the line up pretty easy. However, I've learned I'm not the person to do lots of detailed modeling with green stuff, so my hat is off to all those who are good at it.

As a note, Khaine was right, the back end is definately too heavy for the model to sit on it's own. Thankfully, I had one of the ball-and-socket clear plastic joints from an old Land Speeder kit, so I could tilt it forward a bit more once on the stand. Once I glue the socket to the model after painting, it shouldn't have any stability issues.

The challenge: in a 1500pt game I will play 900pt + D6x100 pts, if I roll a 6 I reroll and -100 to that second number (down to 1000pt minimum)

I like him, but I stand by my original view: he looks a bit unbalanced without something to act as a 'tail'; the way he looks now, it looks like the rotro part would go up, and that the noce would pointing towards the ground when flying around - make it easier to hit with those rokkits though . I love your attachment of the rotors, I may have to borrow that idea

Hah, I thought that's how you did the attachment, Khaine. It worked out really well, although it took me a few hours to get everything the way I wanted. I will prime it later in the week and see if I need to do any more filling. I already know I need to do a bit more cutting/filing, as there is some mismatch between the halves used for one of the rotors.

Also, if you look at how real helicopters fly, they have to tilt forward to move forward, so it's not unrealistic.

Also, I still have the tail blade on the model, as I only removed the exhaust pipes. So it does have a small tail, just not one that is shown in the pictures.

I'm sure with your skill at plasticard and green stuff, you could easily remove the tail rotor and build up a longer section for it to attach.

I used gs to make the bond stronger, but I just made a straight cut and glued the rotor bits to the hull . I agree that regular copters lean forward, but you'll also hav to agre that real-copter shave their rotor near their centre of gravity .And as for the kopta's rear, we just have a different taste in rear ends, I guess . Removing the tail rotor seems pretty hard actually; I considered it on mine and decided against it since I didn't haver a spare kopta if things went horribly pear-shaped. Looking forward to seeing this baby painted!
