How many Manticore will you field?

I'm now considering to buy Manticore.
Actually,I'm decided to buy manticore but "how many" is problem.
How many should I buy?

I play 1000pts to 2000pts mostly. Rarely play 3000pts.
I love PBS a lot. I'm having full size 2 PBS+chimera.

Anyway,Let me know your plan & what you think.

I converted 1, and will probably buy 2 more of the new ones.
so, 3 total for me.

I think 2 would be the most you would need. Then you can get some Hydras or a Leman Russ as well.

My HS is going to be 2 manticores and a unit of 3 hydras. I find that if you have a lynch-pin unit (as a manticore represents a large portion of my firepower) it is folly not to use a second one, but a third one would have diminishing returns because blasts don't work well against units that have already been thinned.

I have one converted, and I'm probably going to get another one because the model looks great.
That said, I will probably only use one my guard. A Leman Russ Squadron (Demolishers) and some basilisks will round out the rest.

Are you planning on using two of them in a squadron? That doesn't work, because they aren't purchasable in squadron from like the Russ and Artillery tanks are.

no, I think he's only using the one. but purchasing a second one due to the model being cool...

Yes, exactly. Two manticores just seems overkill to me. Yes, they'll definitely help against a full on ork or guard horde, but against meq, there are more helpful options, imo.

I've got one, for anti-horde/ AV14 insurance. Against MEQ, while it's not AP3, it lands a ton of wounds.

The new model looks nice indeed. Still will only run one as the other two slots are reserved for x2 Hydras and x2 Medusas which is sadly Forge World only still.

I'll probably get two, maybe run one on occasion.

I think the new model looks llike crap compared to tthe forgeworld model, so i wont be buying any until i snag 2 off fw.

2 Manticores is a good number. Been running 2 since last year converted mine. 2 allows for the law of averages for you to get a decent number of missles. Manticores are probably the best heavy support choice since in 5th edition is the edition of mech and cover saves. The Manticores D3 Strength 10 AP4 missles make it effective against vehicles with strength 10 and 2d6 take the highest for armor penetration as well as hordes with the d3 large templates that wound most things on 2s and insta kills. Not being AP2 or AP3 isn't that much of a problem since most of the time units get cover.

Im planning on useing 2 in my army. They just seem so good for their points why would you not take a couple in your army.

I have converted one, and use it pretty often. I'm considering taking a second for the Ard Boyz semi's. Drop a Hellhound w/MM, pick up a second Manti? Still not sure. Brought one for the prelims and it kicked some serious rear armor. Killed two Land raiders, 2 vindicators, 3 razorbacks and countless marines.
