Hi guys.
As you know we have Warhammer 8th Edition, Plastic Deamon Hunters, New Chaos Deamons and Dark Eldar, but what next?
I mean, what are going to happen then, maybe updating Necron, Dark Angels or Tau?
I just wonder if somone knows anything.
Cheers and Happy Wargaming

They probably need it more. BT can at least be played somewhat competitively. DA are a bit of a joke.
However, I see Necrons and Sisters before either of them. We've had rumors about Necrons and Sisters (for example, a double storm bolter model that's probably a special character), not many, but far more than either BT or DA.

why are you worried about "whats next"? The 4 aforementioned "known" updates won't be completed (i.e. DE or DH, whichever is 2nd updated codex, if it's in fact both of those which are next) until late this year, possibly even 2011.
Patience. Let's worry about what's next when the time comes after the first 4 nexts.

It´s not about I´m not patient, It´s that there are many armies that i would like to collect but I don´t want to en up like "Yay, now I´ve bought DA stuff for 500 bucks. Oh, here´s the new Codex WHAAAAT!!! I CAN´T USE 50% OF WHAT IVE BOUGHT!!! F K!!!" Ok, that might be a little(just a little ) overkill, and DA aren´t the only army that I would like to start with, but the point is that I would like to get almost every army there is so I want to know in which order I can buy stuff to not get f ed by new Codexes and new realeses.
Now I´ve said my stuff.

I think DA should be definitely done before BT.
Let me put it this way...I think the Overcosted Marines should be fixed before the Simply Outdated Marines.
DA is a complete joke. You have to play RW/DW to make it even worth it. BT can be really cool with LRC spam and other things like that.
Then fix DE because I want a new army. Or maybe do it first. Whatever.
GK and SoB definitely need updates too, but it's hard to say what needs what first.

Grey Knights, Sisters, Dark Eldar, and Necrons deserve it more than DA and BT, though. DA and BT at least have fourth edition codices, even if there's problems with them.

Well it technically WAS updated for third edition, but not by much (remember that second and third were pretty damn different).

Well, Dark Eldar weren't out in 2nd. They made a debut in the 3rd Edition box set. They had a codex, then got an update, though not much of one. They got some points revisions and vehicle upgrades that weren't just in White Dwarf. I have a Dark Eldar army, WH and DH. Though I want Grey Knights first, the Dark Eldar DEEPLY deserve it.

I'm hoping for DE, DA, Necrons, BT, Eldar, Inquisition (in all its forms), and Tau before 6th but I don't see any of that happening maybe with the first three as they need it the most.
DA are just terrible they are just barely above Necron's in the scaling of list's. I may have lost 1 or 2 games against them but that's it, other than being a die hard fan of DA you should never choose this codex over the vanilla codex or space wolves.
Necrons need it because nothing in their army is interesting or works well with the theme of the army. I've actually never lost to a necron player (NOTE: skill did have a factor I did not think my opponents knew how to really work them), destroyers possibly the only thing going for them. The monolith while nigh indestructible is easilly avoided and ignored while the opponent can just punish you for taking it, same for the C'tan.
BT I really have nothing to comment about other than "hey their still living in 3rd edition". I only placed them where they were because of the usual imperium/xenos/imperium.
Eldar, I make fun of my friend who uses these guys because he use to whip my ass in 3rd with them, and now they seem to lost a lot of that fire power with the 5th ed rules, not that their 4th ed book was bad it just didn't shift well with the new edition. They really need to have the old craft world options back, like biel tan altaic saim haim etc... Farseers need to return to being the most power psychers in the game or change the fluff where they study under space wolf and blood angels librarians. Other than that a points decrease on some of their weapons would be nice.
Inq., I don't want them having separate books I think they need to be one book and that's it, allow for options to go pure GK or pure SOB. I honestly don't know of the complaints for GKs and SOB's other than GKs need more cheaper stuff and SOB's need more SOB's. I'll be honest I put them near the list because I am biast against imperium.
Tau, again I don't know of the major complaints but from my point of view they seem to do pretty decent in the 5th ed rules and aren't in a dire need of a new book.
Just my thoughts on what should be next, this is just all my opinion.

Dark Angels and Black Templars may have old codices, but they hardly need a priority update. There are a million other space Marine codices and nothing's stopping you using them and painting your models green or black.
Dark Eldar are still very competitive, they don't need an update but they damned well deserve one. I don't think anyone would dare object if the new DE codex was the most balls-out, overpowered cheese known to man. They have earned it.
Grey Knights and Necrons really do need new codices.
Tau and Eldar have pretty middle-of-the-road codices. They should probably get updates before sixth, but not unless everyone else has already been done.
Sisters are more competetive than GK or Necrons, less than Tau or Eldar. What they need more than anything is some plastic kits, some point tinkering and the re-introduction of all the cool fluff that was ripped out to make room for the Inquisition.

I stand corrected on the DE codex, but they are still in need of an update. A new SoB of GK or some sort of combination would be cool as well.

Yeah, but the rest of us would rather get a GOOD codex for our favored army (be it inquisition, sisters, or grey knights)..
Frak the Inquisition. I never played them, I don't want to have my Sisters stuffed in a craptastic amalgam codex that inevitably does justice to none of the factions within. Do you really expect a combined codex to have more than sixy units? Because that would be the bare MINIMUM it would take to really do all three factions justice. Fifth edition codices have thirty plus choices. Nevermind the amount of fluff that book would have to contain, or the painting section-- it would be a massive book, and I doubt that GW would ever make an army book bigger than C: SM.
Those of us that want our own codex would rather wait and get our armies properly expanded upon in every way than to get a piece of refuse a combined codex would assuredly be.
