Im thinkin about starting a cron army and I have an idea for bringing out the egyptian theme that you see in the necron fluff. Im thinking gold and hawk turquoise. I am thinkin of priming the models white that doing the gold and blue than dipping the whole thing in maybe an oak wood stain to give them an aged look, any ideas would be great Im just tryin to get the brainstorm ball rolling. Thanks.

Buy some tomb kings of khemri stuff and convert it with the 'crons. That'll make it glaringly obvious theyre egyptian

I don't really think the two ranges would mesh well. I'd definitely use Tomb Kings paintjobs as inspiration, though.

If you can find some of the old 2nd edition Necrons, they'd probably fit the aesthetic better than the current 3rd edition ones. They still have the old lord on the GW site:

Be careful not to take it overboard- it could turn out to be far too garish. Instead, perhaps save the blue and gold to detailed crests on important and centerpiece units. Necron Lords, Pariahs and Tomb Spyders spring to mind here.

The inclusion of well known egyptian symbols, such as the Eye of Ra as a marking on your warriors will help demonstrate your army's theme, as would converting a Tomb Spyder into a scorpion (a cross between the Talos and TK Scorpion).

Thanks for the replies guys. I dont want to make the army overly themed so it would cross over into the tacky category. Im thinking of gold metalic for the warriors with a few small blue highlights and for the important models add red and glyphs. Red was the royal color I believe. That french army looks amazing but my free hand skillz are not on that level. Does anybody have any experience with dipping models into woodstain to wash them. Im looking to make them look aged and ancient not brand new. I also want to be able to acheive this quickly and cheaply for all the models.

Definitely pick up the old Lord posted above.
Tomb kings stuff would definitely cross over and work well if you've converting any models (C'tans especially).
Take a look at what Ravendove did with his army here:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/247149.page

I think a scheme similar to this could be used to accomplish an Egyptian theme, using gold and/or blue to pick up the glyphs on the chests and maybe shoulder pads or something.
I don't know what the rules are for suggesting an army theme that someone's already posted and used but I suggest taking a look at what he's done.

Hope my input helps and I'd love to see some pics down the road

You can also look at the Wargods of Aegyptus models for inspiration, although I don't think they would convert particularly well. But they also have banners and objects which might help with the theme.

When I painted my tomb kings, I kept to an authentic palette using the Khepera winged scarab:

I wouldn't paint them gold--too garish. But mix some bolt-gun metal with Tin Bitz and see what you can come up with that pleases you, and looks old.

"If you really want to know what it was like, to fight in the air in the great War, then go up to someone you have never met and who has never done you the slightest harm and pour a two-gallon tin of petrol over them. Then apply a match, and when they are nicely ablaze, push them from a fifteenth-floor window after first perhaps shooting them a few times in the back with a revolver. And be aware as you are doing these things that ten seconds later someone else will quite probably do them to you. This will exactly reproduce... the substance of First World War aerial combat and will cost your country nothing. It will also avoid the necessity of ten million other people to die in order for you to enjoy it."

Well I should have said that this is the army Idea for next years army in a weekend. 40k basement's success really got me wanting to do this. So I thought that I should start planning now before next semester starts and life gets crazy. Instead of a bright shining gold I'm thinking about brass washed with the woodstain to age it a bit and maybe drybrush with a sandtone lightly to simulate dust. The rods though so cant be green Im thinkin hawk turquoise or at least some kind of turquoise from the egyptian palette.

...urrrr... I dunno

Turquoise gun rods would look nice, though you could also use Lapis Lazuli as your inspiration for the blue (see the scarab some helpful person posted above) as it was a key gemstone for the Egyptians.

I'd like to make mine a little more egyptian looking oo

I saw this army on WIP

http://z11.invisionfree.com/Work_In_Progress/index.php?showtopic=16106

Scroll down a bit and he's got a destroyer lord he's doing as a lord sitting in a throne with an egyptian looking hat thingy, looks pretty cool.

One thing I was thinking of was trying to give my lords angled heads on the sides, kind of like king tut's mask, but I'm afraid they'll look too thousand-sonsy

I may try and use some tomb kings bitz, with stuff like an icon bearer lord
