Numberless Necron Warrior

Just thought I'd throw up a few photos of my Necron army. It's pretty small for now and the going is slow but it's finished to a point where it resembles something of an army. I apologise for the poor focus and lighting in some shots. Will try to get a shot of the full army all together later on. Onwards!

Necron Lord with Necron Warriors
Nothing special here. Scythe blade for the Lord is from the WHFB Zombies sprue. Blended and glossed so it's pretty clear it's a Warscythe. Gauss Rods were made from Plastruct 2.4mm (3/32") Flourescent Red rod. Gauss Flayer feeds painted red and glossed to hell.

Necron Destroyers
Same style as the Warriors, but with moar rods.

Scarab Swarms
Same again. It doesn't show up that well, but the eyes are glossy and done in the same style as the gun feeds.

C'Tan
Here's the centrepiece model, based on the Deceiver. Head was replaced with a Necron Warrior head in anticipation of the C'Tan's rumoured change to an upgraded Necron Lord in the future Codex. The weapon is from a WHFB Tomb Kings Ushabti, again blended and glossed to resemble Living Metal which gives the C'Tan it's nifty rules. Most of the upper body cloth is Green Stuff work made to blend into the existing cloth.

Cheers.

Very interested, but not seeing the pics...

Make sure that your html image tags are correct and if you have to, host the pics here on Dakka.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

Failed in my very first post. Nice. I've uploaded all the images to the Dakka galleries so they're now displaying. Not too hot on the image compression though.

I saw your painting guide on another website Raven, thanks for the info about the rods. I ordered some from plastruct and got them the next day since they were so close. I got the blue rods instead since my guys are a dark blue color, the rods a bit light but they still look decent on my guys.

Really like the c'tan conversion - the Tomb Kings weapon fits nicely and looks really good. Basing theme works too. Nice stuff!

I really like the models. All of them except the lord. He looks unfinished considering he is an HQ (unless he is actually unfinished).

If not I would spend a little time making him stand out as befits a character of his status.

Everything else is awesome though.

I love them. It's a wonderful twist on the old metal skeleton routine you usually see. And it's nice to see them well painted too.

Armies:
(CSM/HH) - Iron Warriors; Death Guard; World Eaters; Night Lords
IG - Vestfalian Expeditionary
Force (Solar Auxilia - HH)
SM - Blades of Inaros (Homebrew)
DE - Kabal of Ouroboros

Truely awesome.

I think some green flocking on the bases and red eyes would complete the model though.

Amazing. The C'Tan conversion is a real subtle but yet eye-catching change that works incredibly well.
And I really like the painting scheme, was it perhaps your Necrons I saw on Librarium Online?

I have two chapters in the works now.

Hmm. What do you suggest? I have him slightly elevated and posed dynamically, his armour is a little brighter too. Any suggestions would be great. I'm loath to make him stand out too much because the whole point is that they're one great army of identical hulking machines.

MauleedlovesYakeface wrote:I think some green flocking on the bases and red eyes would complete the model though.

The bases need a little something perhaps, yes. But they were kept mainly dark and grey for contrast and in order to make the models pop a bit more. Necrons need all the help to pop they can get. I agree with you about the eyes. The reason I haven't painted the eyes is because I'm terrible with small details.

Yes it was

very nicely done. I presume that they were all painted bone and then the darker areas had a dark wash of some flavor, yes?

I really like the bone and red combination, and very well done with the Deceiver conversion, i like it more than the original model

Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.

The models were given white undercoats, then two full washes of Gryphonne Sepia (a light brown). Then two layers of Bleached Bone were done on the armour plates. Finally a watered down pure white highlight was done on the extreme edges. It's quite a simple and quick method, but produces great results.

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

These look so much more interesting than the regular metalic Necrons. The colours look simple but really work well together (not to say that the paint job is simple, you appear to be a far better painter than I ).

I really love the depth and warmth of the colours you have chosen, and the weapons look fantastic.

The C'Tan looks so much better with the head swap than the usual model it is actually quite scary.

Well it could be just the quality of the photo, but he after taking a really close look I think it's the head of the lord that's bothering me. It looks like it lacks detail (just white unlike the warriors where I can actually make out the eyes and shading).

I really like the bases though, I don't think they need anything more.

Awesome. It's a very refreshing scheme. I do think you should paint the eyes red though, like that dude said, 'cept not on the c'tan, that model is perfect.

... because that totally makes sense.
