Hi there folks
My wife and I are new players to warhammer 40k and are really enjoying. I would like to say that this site has been a wonderful resource to us and has helped us in finding direction and ideas for our armies. I am currently running a Ork armie myself and my wife is currently running a Tyranid army, in case you where wondering. Now I had a question for the masses, where do you find the offical ruling for custom models regarding Games workshop tournament events? the reason I ask is simply this, we bought a custom swarmlord on ebay, it was done with quite a bit of GW stuff, but far from completely made up of it. So can you guys help us out, so we don't make the same mistake? I am more then willing to post the photo if people are interested in seeing it.

The rough and ready rule is that GW models, scratchbuilds and models that use other company model parts but are 70% GW is fine.

It'd be a tragedy to break that apart given how well done it is. Maybe enlarge the base and add a large pile of dead marines to up your GW quotient

I think we are going to do as 1 up suggests and add a ton of space marine corpse and place it on a Trygon base, but I doubt that it will bring it up to 70 percent, I am still looking for that rough outline of the rules that make it a illegal model and again thank everyone for the support that you have show us in this.

I know we are planning on doing a rather detailed paint job on it. my wife has already started working out some paint themes. The local tournament rep really came down hard on my wife about it not being legal. it was rather upset. Well, maybe when we move we will have some better luck =D And yes I will post photos of it after it is completely painted.
