You're between Wilmington and Fayetteville, both of which have FLGS; I think Wilmington has several and a solid 40k group; if you do a bit of searching on the forums here, you'll come up with something.

And a general tip: Do some google searching for Jacksonville NC and comic / 40k / miniature gaming. If you find a comic shop, you can call and ask if there's any stores in the town that support miniature gaming.
