Some shoota boyz I painted over the weekend. Tried some greyscale techniques for the flesh and the tunics. Theres a few things that need to be done on them but I have more on the way and will do it later lol. Let me know what you think.

I really like these! I particularly like the fuschia skin tone, it looks really good with other colors that you picked. Everything just looks...right.

I really like the red skin look. I think they would pop more if they were painted with different colors than red for the armor, but still very nice.

Yea I always catch crap for my armor color, but when all my units are on the board it really does look nice, and different. Can't wait to have it all done to post it together for you guys.

The more greyscale I see the more I like it. Best part is its pretty damn simple to use. I think Ill mess around with it for my boyz. Im repainting the skin on all my Orks, so the though of redoing a zillion Orks isnt sounding fun to me.


Again your painting style looks really awesome. The only slight problem is everything is red. BUT thats your style man. You need to get an army pic, because I remember the tank and such youve painted, and I want to see what they all look like together.

yea if you are redoing all of your flesh no question greyscale is the route to go. I paint up these boyz in bout 2 hours, the most time consuming part is letting the washes dry.

Simple and -very- effective paintjob. These are going to look great at the tabletop when they're 60+ and charging your opponent!

Great color scheme. You should drill out the barrel holes with a hand-drill.

I definitly should, just dont have the drill yet.

The skin color kinda freaks me out a little. : ) it's done well, though.

Nope, oddly enough the reds look very nice in that picture, and usually cameras sap reds for some reason. I think what it is, is the fact that everything is done in varying shades of reds. Its just the red seems to much in all the red. I still love the way they look, even in all that red

Those are really good you painted the red really well. The highlighting is amazing and the muscles are very good. I think the armour looks really good too.

The lighting looks a lot like the sun is setting on the left side of the pic. Very nice.

Excellent work, did you mix paints to achieve the skin tone?

I used a greyscale technique for the flesh, starting with white, then washing with badab black, then a baal red wash, thats it.

I like red orks personally... but the fact that the armor is the same color as the skin is kinda throwing me off. Especially on the helmets.

My pictures don't do my models justice, the armor doesnt look red and is a very bright orange and in person there is a good contrast to the flesh. Got to work on some better lighting I guess.

I love the alternate skin tone, mine are desert yellow with badab black. How did you come up with the idea for the skin tone. I also play shoota boys, gotta love that Dakka!
