so i had this semi awesome idea, what if GW made airsoft weapons based of the weapons used in 40k? i know i'd buy a bolter in a heartbeat, if there was only a way to write them to try and convince them to move into this market

but paintball is expensive and airsoft has more of a following, at least here in the states. plus the fact we'd finally have a uk manufacture of airsoft weapons instead of just Japanese, Chinese and German ones

flamers and hand flamers could be done, but plasma weapons i don't think could be. could even do eldar, dark eldar, tau and ork weapons.... it'd get harder with nid weapons though

Paintball would be better, me thinks. Airsoft have those orange caps on the end to show that they are airsoft, don't they? Paintball has no such thing, so it would be more authentic.

Yes. but with paintball guns looking like fake guns police wont shoot you. but if we do that with real looking guns like a bolter with no orgne cap police can get confused.

he means when you look at a paintball gun you can tell just by seeing it that it is not a real weapon. airsoft guns are different in this reguard

I'd think Airsoft would be better. The problem with trying to replicate any kind of weapon to paintball gun form is taking into account the hopper and gas tank. God knows, if i shell out what it would cost for a GW-made replica weapon, it had better be as close as possible to what it would look like full scale. Furthermore, I like being able to reload with box magazines instead of pouring balls into the a fore mention obtrusive hopper.

True, but to be fair, there are paintball guns that use clips and with the fact that a true scale bolter would be massive in somebodies hands, there is really no reason for the CO2 being hidden inside of the gun.
Besides, You can use purple paint balls, shoot your friend, and then yell DEATH TO THE XENOS! with some basis

hence why i said airsoft.... and there are CO2 powered airsoft weapons which would work for a bolter or green gas either way

Only in the US as far as I know. The UK has no such requirement - though I believe FPS limits are lower here.
