Is it just me, or does every 40k player have a blog now? Not to mention these blogs are all competting with eachother for views and coments.
I'm just curious as to what you think the impact of blogging is on your game. Does having a blog make you a better player, painter, list writer? Does it make you cocky and arrogant? Does it make your game worse as random people start to give you advice?
Notice: I don't have a blog

I don't have a blog either and they have absolutely no effect on my game. I prefer to debate things in a forum and not lecture what inevitably becomes a horde of sycophants that like to go out and repeat what they read on some blog all over the internet as though reading that Orks aren't a competitive army isn't something to make one into an object of derision for even thinking.
I don't even read them, really. Every now and then I'll get a link to one and I'll check it out if it seems interesting but since so much of what is out there is just absolute nonsense I try to keep it to a minimum.

I think that most wargamers are like you, but I was more curious to hear from actual bloggers, like Blackmor, as to how the blog affected their game (if at all)
I do read a few blogs, but not on a 'regular' basis, I'll check them once a week or two, see if they wrote anything intresting.

Blogs are hardly limited to wargaming. Lots of whiny bitches in all walks of life these day. You really have to cull through the blogs to find any that are of use, but if you do, you can pick up some decent tips and ideas.

PFft, that never stopped anyone.
I don't have a blog because I don't like blogs . I don't read them, hell, the only blog one could accuse me of reading is the BoLS one, and even then I just skim over it for news rather than actually reading most of the articles. Even then, most of the news I get from the BoLS is from the Lounge, anyway-- the blog has less information than the Lounge.

I don't think it should really (or could for that matter) but some people who have a blog don't post on forums much, I guess they like the interaction between blogs better than the interaction between various threads/posts on a forum.

My blog is more dedicated to painting/modeling, and helps keep me motivated. If I think somebody out there is expecting me to finish a project, it helps me prioritize it better so it doesn't get set on the back-burner indefinitely.
I occasionally talk about tactics though, when I feel the need to fill space on my blog.

I'm all for blogs. I think that there are points of view and ideas that take more time, and are more focused, than a forum can really serve well. A blog allows a writer to shape his output as he sees fit, and doesn't need to worry about disrupting a community.
I think that forums are good for feedback and interaction, but you can never be the star of the show. A thread can wander off topic, get buried, or simply be closed, while a blog post can get as much play as the author wants.
On a more cynical note, I think that it's good to have people that have lots (and lots) to say do it on their own soapbox. the best bits filter into the forums anyway.

I got so much other stuff on my plate right now.. I'm afraid my armies expand very slowly.
Thus my blogs become boring. So I just quit.
I however would be more then happy to show you to my images on my profile about work i have done in the past!

While I would agree with you, many blogs have embarked on 'drama crusades' while others do the opposite, and partner up. I'll just quote someone else who posts on the internet
ZeroPunctuation wrote:...but also because I tend to judge my worth as a human being by my site traffic
It's kind of like any media industry. Sure, you could read more than one newspaper, but odds are you don't. You could listen to a lot of radio stations, but you can only really listen to one at a time (and most car-radios only have 6-8 memory slots) so these outlets constantly try to convince you that they are 'The Best' and certain blogs do the same, some are more direct than others, but they are trying to convince you the reader that 'This blog is for you!'.
I think it's more comon though for blogs/bloggers to partner up, this increaces their reader coverage (IE: when someone writes to BoLS or YTTH, that author gets the article exposure to everyone who reads those sites, and opens himself to a whole new comment gallery) still, there is competition, as not everyone can write articles for these guys, and they (the guys running the established blog) may not like your article.
Some other bloggers do something of the same thing, only they 'partner' with a forum like Dakkadakka.
