How come all those threads about Iran and North Korea, some of them STARTED BY MODS are not locked?

Come off it! The threads on Iran and North Korea REGULARLY get worse than that. I didn't see very much in the way of "EVIL ISRAEL!" in that thread, more "This was an ill considered action that is consistent with some previous policies of Israel" met by "Nah it's pretty reasonable really, when you think about it." and then some fringe opinions on both sides. Pretty much the same as every thread.

At Olympia and Mattyrm: I know the board isn't a democracy. But it's also pretty valid, in my mind, to voice well founded criticism. I don't have a problem with Frazzled aside from when he uses aggressive moderation with little warning, as in this case. Usually he's pretty reasonable about it if you PM him.

Proving my point about it being a very evenly divided issue as well!

The israel thread had a whole page of moderator discussion in the mod forum as to whether or not to close it, it was not some snap decision. These questioning threads are becoming rather circular and pointless now and since Kanluwen pretty much nailed it with the first reply, I'm locking this to give the rest of the mods a break from having to follow these sorts of threads so closely.

Go back to the OT forum page and look up in the top left corner.

See the button that is marked 'New Topic'

Press it and start a new thread on the issue.

The Israel thread was closed for very specific reasons.
There should be no issues with a new one being started as long as OP lists some loose parameters to guide discussion e.g. "THIS IS NOT A DISCUSSION ABOUT ZIONISM!".

Honestly guys.
Man up and start a new thread on a locked topic keeping in mind the reason the topic was locked.
I do not recall there EVER being a banned topic.
Go to the stickied post at the top of the Forum about the rules here by Yakface.
It asks 3 things:
1: The main site rules apply
2: Even when discussing hot topic issues to try and be polite (which comes from being as objective as possible)
3: No pointless spam OT threads.

I see nothing about any topic being banned.

And Da Boss if it is such a drama, just stop posting for awhile, have a break, enjoy yourself and come back (if you want).
Why are so many people demanding to be banned all of a sudden?

This is coming from a dakka user point of view, not a moderator.
