It looks sharp! Very balanced with a nice mix of units with complementary abilities (if used well!). I bet you've gotten really good at using them in tandem... I prefer a much more lopsided list, personally . It also can put out a lot of shots, and has a nice anvil to hold everything together.

I'd be concerned about a fairly low number of drops/units, and a lack of anything "big" to take down enemy monsters / mounted characters.

Also, why do you take a wild hunter, rather than a banner in your wildriders?

Thanks for the input RiTides. The reason I take a wild hunter instead of the banner is because the unit will most likely never enter a combat unless they are accompanied by the eternal guard squad at the front rank, who have a war banner. Additionally, if the wild riders are to enter a combat head on (front rank), then I will have someone other than my mage lord on a unicorn able to accept any challenges issued. Thus, allowing my unicorn to attack the squad. As for dealing with enemy monsters/mounted characters, you're right, that is where this list lacks. However, I feel as though this is a problem for the whole army, not just my list. If I do come across monsters, I will most certainly use the lore of beasts and hope for "the beast cowers" or "the hunter's spear", both affective in dealing with monsters. Way watchers might also be lucky enough to get a nice killing blow shot off against the rider

I don't know a whole ton about Wood Elves but from reading RiTides' Bat Reps and tactics, I'd say dryads seem to be the way to go. However, as an OK player, I also like the hammer unit and it seems the wizard nicely fits that role. Good list and yes, plenty of dakka.

Well, I tend to take more dryads than most just because I limit myself to forest spirits. Glade guard are some of the best core in the game! They certainly tore me up the one time I've played against wood elves (a more traditional list, with lots of shooting).

I'm going to be trying out a spellweaver with unicorn for the first time in a tourney at the end of the month! I was also tempted to take lore of beasts to get "Beast cowers"... that must be a devastating spell! For now, I think I'm going to take the lore of Athel Loren just to get more treesinging... but we'll see!

I still think the banner will be more helpful for the wildriders... but I've had trouble with mine living . However, the banner has been more of a help than anything, since it gives them that guaranteed vital +1 CR, if they do get caught out on their own.

I agree with you in that having a banner can be key in the right circumstances. What I was thinking of doing is getting rid of one wardancer (bringing the squad size to 8), and throwing in a wild rider banner (they are both 18 pts). What are your thoughts?

Nice list, Oldblood.

Not really knowing what is going to happen with 8th edition, I am kind of reluctant to give any suggestions. However, I will still give you my 2 cents worth.

I think 8 war dancers are just as good as 9, so dropping one to give an added bonus to your wild riders sounds logical. The reason I say 8 is as good as 9 is because skirmishers don't give or take away any rank bonuses. I rarely saw any time (actually never, but with 8th maybe) an opportunity to get all 8 war dancers into base to base contact. All those extra models are just 18 points for a wound. Once again with 8th that might change with the step up rule though.

I also think 7 wild riders and your spell weaver will make the unit a little too big to maneuver properly (once again might be different with 8th).

The other thing I usually do with my WE is run them in MSU. I would think about dropping 1 glade guard from each unit, 2 dryads, and 1 way watcher from each unit to make another whole unit of 8 dryads. The other thing that might be useful is dropping the dryads and way watchers to bump those units of glade guard up to preferably 15 if you drop a wild rider too. They can reform into 3x5 to fight in cc for the rank bonus if necessary. Rumors say they will always be able to shoot in two ranks so you should still get all your shots.

The only other thing I might change is the alter build, although that one is good, I have been thinking about the amber pendant, briarsheath armor, GW, and shield if you want.

Anyway, that is just some of my thoughts.

I do think dropping the wardancer to get the banner is a good idea. Boogeyman has some great suggestions, too! We'll know more in about a week as far as what will be effective for the new edition... I'll definitely be commenting more then

The more the merrier Way to recruit for us, Oldblood! Although given your name, I think your allegiance might be divided...

haha, it's true, I play both lizards and wood elves. However, I've always had a thing for wood elves, so I'm always trying to search for advice on how to stay strong with the trees

Honestly, it's just hard for me to get behind a WE list without at least a treeman. It just doesn't hit hard enough. Wild Riders can be pretty squishy, and a Lv4 mage has never really made up her points for me with any of the lores she can take.

After seeing the book, my thoughts are:

-The spellweaver looks good, to get access to the great lores in the rulebook! However, I'm not sure about the unicorn mount (as far as effectiveness, of course it's awesome )

-I think the dryads should be a bit larger to get the full benefit of their attacks in base-to-base and supporting attacks from the 2nd row

-The glade guard can be a single unit! Since the second rank can fire.

-I'm not sure about wild riders now... they should still be able to help aid things, but can't break ranks (I'm not sure if they're allowed to take a rank themselves since they're fast cav, I believe not, which would mean they could never break ranks).

Also, the treeman doesn't look like a "must take" in 8th edition... still effective, but not as dominant as it was (as are all monsters now).

I'm fairly sure Fast Cavalry are able to get ranks just like any other Cavalry unit. The unit will cost a lot though!

Nice list, I've heard rumor that chars on monsters can't join units anymore...mostly to stop EotG shennanigans and other beardy situations. I don't know how this will affect the uni and stag (or chaos monsterois mounts) as they were designed to join units... Something to investigate though
