Last year we hosted an event that grew out of players wanting to do bigger WFB games. It turned into a 2 day torunament and this year grew into a GT with multiple events. The 40k event evolved out of some player feedback in several threads about different event formats. The two GT's are very different. The WFB event showcases large armies, painting, and conversions. The 40k event is 4 games in one day with nothing counting except battle points. In the evenings we're setting up a few 'fun' events at the local bar that has eagerly agreed to stay open late for us.)
I'm working on flyers for the event tonite, and the information is below. We'll have a much more detailed rules set posted in a couple of weeks for the two GT's, but feel free to ask questions or contact me in the meantime.
THE BIG SHOW!
July 24th and 25th , Granite Run Mall in Media, PA.
Hosted by Showcase Comics and The BigGunZ-NE gaming club.
“The Big Show” Warhammer 7th Edition Grand Tournament
3 games on Saturday, 2 games on Sunday
By popular demand, it’s back! The highly lauded 2999 Warhammer Fantasy Battles GT eventr returns for what promises to be another clash of epic armies not seen since Chaos last invaded the Old World, (or 2009, whichever came last). Composition Scoring will be done by the NE Comp Council, similar to how it’s been done at the Colonial, Crossroads, and Conflict GTs.
All models must be fully painted and based.
Tournament Organizer: Nidal Nasr from the Warmongers Club
Cost: 60.00
54 spots
This tournament is an Indy GT Qualifier with 2 tickets to the GW Finals in Las Vegas in 2011
Special events will be held in the evenings at Ruby Tuesdays on Friday and Saturday nights. Including the 3-drink-minimum-speed-painting and an old fashioned pub quiz. Open to anyone over 21.
“The Ironman” Warhammer 40k 1500pt. Grand Tournament
4 Games in one day, on Saturday, July 24th!
Scoring for this event is totally based on battle points from the four games played. There will be prizes for best painted, but painting does not figure into the overall score. There is no comp score, and no sports score. You win or lose by how well you do in your games. Each game will have missions with several different objectives and ways to score points. All models must meet the minimum 3 color painting requirement and WYSIWYG.
Tournament Organizer: Mike Clark from Showcase Comics
Cost: 30.00
32 spots
This tournament is an Indy GT Qualifier with 2 tickets to the GW Finals in Las Vegas in 2011

I'm excited as always. This event last year saw some incredible match ups. Throgg's Trolls vs Stankzilla, with Throgg pulling out the "Troll Vomit" for awesome effect. Lots of fun fluffy ENORMOUS armies, with some expected "i brought it because i had it and never get to use it" The winner had: ranked mortals.
"Special events will be held in the evenings at Ruby Tuesdays on Friday and Saturday nights. Including the 3-drink-minimum-speed-painting and an old fashioned pub quiz. Open to anyone over 21."
3 drink minimum before or during Make it before, make it interesting!

We figure most people will have had a couple for the painting starts. The entry fee for the contest is buying 3 drinks from Ruby Tuesdays and you have to finish them by the time the contest is over. I suppose using a shot of whiskey as a "brown wash" is acceptable, but I expect most people will have no trouble using them in more tradional ways. Rubies is going to stay open 3 hours late to acommodate us on Saturday night, so making sure we run up the bartab a bit sounded good.)

Probably going to go to that iron man tournament. God it's been so long since I've played a 1500 point game this could be tough.

From my understanding, that's going to be the points level for the nationals at Las Vegas, so time to get used to it. )

Hrm....I'll talk to the wife.
We'll be in Florida by then, and it's suddenly a 14 hour drive instead of a 7 hour drive. ><

1500pts is refreshing. Its my favorite point value!
I miss the days of 3rd end when almost EVERY game was 1500pts...
to many people get too many toys in bigger games

There is no comp for this one. We'll be doing some list checking during the day. If you'd like to have your list checked over, you can submit it. If not, just bring 5 copies of your army list, preferably by army builder, but at the very least typed and legible with all upgrades listed clearly. The tournament is open list, so one copy for each of your opponents if they want it, one for you, and one you turn in at the door.

Someone called and asked about the 40k event being a GT qualifier for Las Vegas.
Yes, both 40k and WFB tournaments have two tickets to give away to the 2011 finals in LV. For 40k it's obviously the two people with the highest battle point total, sinc there is no sports, comp, or other scoring involved, and painting is a separate catagory.
For WFB it will be the top two overall winners.
