Does anyone know a good way to have stormtroopers without actually buying the metal ones? Can I do some converting to get a stormtrooper?

i can't think of a good one............

The key thing about converting stormtroopers is to represent both the increased armour and the hellguns. I'f you're willing to play around with GS you can up-armour standard cadians. See below for my somewhat simplistic attempt of adding knee pads, elbow pads and additional chest armour on my CCS.

Regarding the hellguns, you could either pick up after-market weapons that look beefier than lasguns, or alternatively model on larger magazines or some kind of back-mounted power pack with a wired connection to standard lasguns.

What flinty said. Bulk up that armor with some greenstuff sculpting. Or you can convert spare tank treads into body armor panels nicely if you don't like greenstuff sculpting.

And Flinty. Are those pig-iron heads for those troops? Whats the quality on them like?

Ok thanks, I thinnk ill just stick with the regular stormtroopers, seeing as i have never even used greennstuff. Yes, my army will be spectacular.

Best of luck! Dont be afraid to experiment with spare models. You might find something that looks just like what your after. Every now and then I do that with a spare model and blue tac ( type of putty used for putting up posters but doesn't set like green stuff ) just to see what I can come up with. Some times a cool idea for a new models forms. Mostly not but its always fun.

if you're not picky on being 100% gw figs, take a look at the UNA line from at-43. the shock troopers are armored enough to look like 4+ and the guns are big enough to be believable hellguns.

@Fiesta - I would also recommend just picking up some GS and playing about with it. Check out some real-life examples of heavy armour and try and copy it. I would reccomend picking up some colour shapers for working the GS with though. They make everyone an expert sculptor

@Lexx - They are Pig Iron heads. the quality is fantastic. I've bought quite a few packs now and ther have been no mis-casts and the mould lines are practically non-existant.
