Subject: WoC question, about marks of chaos.

I was wondering what people thought about the chaos marks. Which one is the best/worst? (I don´t want answers like Khorn because they are the coolest, I want answers that explains why you should or shouldn´t take a specifik mark.) What marks works best in what kind of an army (infantry, horse or magicheavy armies.)

This is probably better in the Tactics section, not a section for asking rules questions...I've asked a mod to move it
Personally:
Knight heavy: Nurgle knights with the always frenzy banner. -1 to shoot at them, permanent frenzy for extra attacks goodness (for now)
Tzeentch with the blasted standard if your local place has lots of ignore-armour shooting.
Magic Heavy: Either tzeentch gateway spam style, or usse mixture with nurgle sorcs - the base nurgle spell is wonderful.
Infantry: almost anything. NUrgle is good to reduce shooting casualties, khornE is not so great as you get led all over the place by fast cav and skirmishers.
Note that the abovce advice is valid for 7th ed only: 8th edi s due out in just over 1 month, so I would hold off converting and painting until you see how the new psych rules work, for example.

For 7th ed- Slaanesh for almost everything as you are immune to fear, terror and panic, but as you are not ITP, can still flee.
Also it allows chaos giants to ASF.

I agree with whats been said above.
Infantry - Nurgle or Slaanesh for the reasons above (even though Slanesh your not ITP if its on chaos warriors you won't be fleeing often)
Cav - Nurgle or Khorne. Nurgles probably the safer bet since yoru cav are your fastest units and will attract alot of early shooting.
Magic - Nurgle's first spell is nasty, I personally would got a mix of Tzneech/Nurgle.

This same question was asked fairly recently and I kicked it in the jumblies (though as noted I missed a couple special units) ...

Personally, I go all Slaanesh. That's just me, however. IMHO, Immune to Fear, Terror, and Panic, with the ability to flee, is better than ITP.
Its also the cheapest, though I do it because Slaanesh is my favorite god.

In 8th, Slaanesh isn't as good as it used to be because they nerfed terror and fear pretty badly. Khorne just went from slowed to awesome because you can now make an Ld test to not charge that unit of 5 bats or whatever is going to draw you off the table.
As a matter of fact there's been a lot of griping about marauders in large blocks with mark of khorne. You now get two rows of guys who get extra swings. Go horde and it's three rows...
I'm tempted to do Tzeentch as well and then models with hand weapon and shield have a 5+ ward save.

Yeah I think that Tzeentch and Khorne are finally capable of being worth their points cost. I think that Marauders are going to be used more often. With their Initiative of 4 and access to marks they are going to be a great support unit for the WoC. I am bummed that Slaanesh has taken a hit. I think I'm going paint my purple Knights red.
Stock in Chariots has risen nicely as well. With the loss of Insta-Smash in 8th expect to see more Khorne chariots out their.
Now if Chaos Knights and WoC get Thunderous Charge watch out...

Good to know! I'm tempted to go all-khorne
Kasrkinlegion wrote:As a matter of fact there's been a lot of griping about marauders in large blocks with mark of khorne. You now get two rows of guys who get extra swings. Go horde and it's three rows...
I thought you only could get a single supporting attack from models in a second rank (or farther back) except for monstrous infantry, which get their full attacks.
Kasrkinlegion wrote:I'm tempted to do Tzeentch as well and then models with hand weapon and shield have a 5+ ward save.
This save would only be in close combat, right? It does sound good, although I'm definitely partial to Khorne.

@RiTides: Correct only 1 attack. But if you look at it this way.
MoT warriors seems soo good. 5+ ward save with a 3+ normal seems soo good.
MoS isnt as good at it once was because terror and fear changed now. if you have a BsB or a General near by you really dont need this mark anymore. WoC have the army rules wher eyou can reroll failed .. panic test also. (believe.. im not 100% since id play MoS in 7th never looked it up lol.)
MoN seems really good now b/c of attacks in combat now. a -1 ws in a figh with 30 attacks might tip odds to your favor.
