Hi there dakka! I've been lookin around here for almost a year now and have quite recently made a profile so i could comment on some of the work, and now it's my time to add something.
I thought that as an ork player, Í should start big, and whats bigger than a... Stompa!
so yes, here's my Stompa, with a new guntower instead of gun arm, shortened chainsword arm, and a big rear hatch Well, bigger...

Pics!
main part

so yeah, guntower, not done yet, and when thats done, riveting and detailing.

I wanted to make the hatch bigger, and as the chimneys are on the guntower, a couple of rhino top doors could made a nice hatch, fit for 20 orks

Here's the three orks that will be on the stompa, pinned of course, soon to be painted....

...and some grots to order around and attend to important stuff, like serving squigarrs, fixin holes, and gettin ammo ^^

And finally a pic of the pieces put together.

So yeah, thats the first post, tomorrow there will be more detailling and hopefully fixin some rivets, but this is all for now
hope you like it so far!

C&C welcome

Update!
I finished all the detailling and tomorrow is... urgh... riveting... God i hate that...
Anyhow, the details are done and i have added a new gun to the tower, the big lobba from forgeworld with a plasticard tube to make it more of a cannon.
and as soon as riveting is done i can get down to the painting and such, i dont know exactly how i will paint it, but thats a later issue

Pics!

I gave the tower a angry face with the traditional evil eyebrows and sharp teeth and i think it looks neat

The big lobba was originally ment to go on the right shoulder, but instead it ended up here, I'm not sure if i'm gonna remove it and go with my original plan, hmm

Also i added some grot missiles under the tower, for fun ^^
thats the update for now, tell me what you think and of course, C&C welcome

Quick update!

Before i go to my cousins graduation party i wanted to show that i switched the lobba to the right side

A little better in my opinion, balances the sides out a little and such

here's without the lobba to se the simple build:

@ Anthony_D
I actually dont think that it would be hard making an entire sompa outof plasticard, it was easy just throwing random pieces on there and with some bitz it can look amazing, so i say go for it if you want an personal, orky Stompa

How tall is it?

I think I will try to build one, it looks fairly easy (famous last words!) but it is going to be one of those Long term projects.

Its about 9 inches high and 6 inches wide at the bottom and 3 inches wide the top
so not that big, recommendation from me is that you use some kind of bucket or something, like i did for the tower, as the base, and it will look great

Gotta go now, Update tomorrow!

Frikkin nice dude! And I also think that I must anouns now.. Iv'e thought about building a stompa from scratch with a bucket of sort and such, and now I'm convinced!
I haven't touched my orks for some time so my fingers are itching for some scratch builds

Would it not have been easier to attach the rivets as you built?

What have you found tough to do whilst doing this build? (I want to learn from your mistakes rather than repeat them) ;-)

Have had a look around at some old terrain building sites, I think i know that you can get plastic card that looks like sheet of corrogated iron. Also planning on using car builing mesh as pannels.

UPDATE! Heres a little update before I leave for a friends house, got some catching up to do, and wanted to show that i have actually painted the thing. ^^
its not going to look so dark later when the details and blue flames are on, but for now its pretty dark.
the brown part is going to be white so dont mind that right now

These pictures where taken at night so the quality is not great, but you get the general idea

I'll answer these questions in order,

I dont think so, i always attatch the rivets at the end so they dont get placed in the way and so the pieces can fit better with eachother, but you could do it before, though i strongly recommend not to.

The hardest thing to do on the stompa was.... probably when i didnt measure and plan before i cut up the plasticard and wasted valuable pieces, so think before you cut.
Also how the thing should look, have pictures of the stompa or other orky things infront of you when building a stompa. its good to see how they designed it and cut their pieces^^

thats all for now, I'll be back on friday with an update hopefully before sunday.

Cheers!!

Hi there Dakka, i have now fixed alot of the stompa and the most of the painting is just my special blue, and some rust
and im sorry that this update have taken some time but its because i mostly painted metal and thats kinda booring,
soo I waited 'til some colours where on and it looked more exiting.

the pictures are a litlle blurry but i think you can still make out the colours, well not on this first picture.

Oh yeah, i forgot to tell you that my stompa isn't walking, he's flying! and thats thanks to two big fans under it to keep it in the air, and a jet engine for starting the flight.
soo its not a stompa in a way, but a.... flya? or something else.... any ideas?

So theres the update and the next will come sooner than this one,
if you have name ideas, please state them, as i dont have any other ideas than "the flying stompa".

C&C welcome

Update!

.... ok this didnt go faster than the other update but... well, im kinda lazy ^^
soo i gave my stompa to my local store for judging in a painting competition and forgot to take pictures before i turned it in :(
and another bad thing is that i wont get it back until the 17th! so if you could wait until then, i would be grateful

But as a good thing i have another side project going on, which you can see here:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/302223.page

Otherwise, it turned out very nice and im proud ^^
